Did you know that there are a lot of different days to celebrate Samhain? I love to go with the Coligny Calendar date (mostly because I love the weirdness of it).

It's always helpful for me to remember that the Celtic Fire Festivals are truly a SEASON, not just a day!

The Celts rarely dealt with absolutes. One of my favorite examples is two animal symbols of Samhain. The season deals with endurance, survival, and battle. The boar, a fearsome beast, is a clear champion of the warrior spirit. The hare, with his quick reflexes and lightning fast speed is the opposite dynamic.

Sometimes to survive we must face things head on, ripping and tearing our way through. Others, we need to get away and wait until the danger has passed. Both are needed in our lives.

True wisdom is learning which you need.

I always set up my alter up early. It's in a different space than usual, and I love it so much. It makes me smile and feel so comforted every time I pass it.

Traditional: October 31st to Nov 1st
Coligny Calendar (2nd new moon after the Fall Equinox): Nov 20th Astrological (Sun at 15 degrees Scorpio): Nov 7th
Exact Midpoint (halfway between sols. and equ.): Nov 6th

Fun with the kids show!

Had a beautiful time of connection with sisters to start the season. Ladybug spirit sat with me in lieu of a dearly missed friend. Today I drew cards for this time and all pointed to truth, sincerity, and community.
