I am so thankful and grateful for our community for making The Heart of Therapy possible! Today marks our 3 year anniversary of serving children in need of speech services! I will be doing a giveaway featuring products from other small businesses in our area. I will announce details very soon. For now, I want to celebrate and say thank you to everyone who has trusted me with their little ones. My patients and their families mean the world to me. I look forward to serving our community for many years to come.

Toys, toys, and more toys!!!! Kids learn through play, and the best toys don’t require batteries. When looking for toys for your toddler, think about the natural language opportunities it presents. Pretend play, repetition, shared play, actions, etc. If you need some ideas, ask your child’s therapist for assistance.

It is important to remember expressive language requires receptive language skills. We have to learn a skill before we are able to demonstrate that skill.

We all want our little ones to talk and can’t wait to hear their little voices; however, it is important to understand that there are many skills that come before speaking.

A child’s job is to play! During therapy, goals are targeted through play using your child’s interests. While it is “work,” it shouldn’t feel like work for your child. The best play feels natural, engaging, and fun!
