The Stone River Recovery team was honored to attend the 2025 Restoring Lives Luncheon, hosted by Pay It Forward SA. This powerful event continues to highlight the impact of compassion, connection, and recovery in our community.

We’d also like to extend our best wishes to Ben Brooks, CEO of Pay It Forward, as he steps down from his role and moves to Las Vegas to continue making a difference. Thank you, Ben, for the lasting impact you’ve made here in San Antonio, your leadership and heart for service will be missed.

"I’ve been on he**in most of my life, and honestly when I first walked into Stone River, I was scared, tired, and didn’t believe much would change for me. I’ve been through treatment before and thought it would just be the same. But this place has been different. They don’t just see you as an addict – they also focus on your mental health, and that’s something I never really got anywhere else. It’s not just about taking the drug away, it’s about healing your mind and heart so you can actually move forward.

The facility was clean and comfortable, which helped me feel safe. The classes were really good – I learned things that make sense and that I can actually use in my life. Even the food was good, and when you’re going through something this tough, that really makes a difference.

The staff here truly care. You can feel it in how they talk to you, how they listen, and how they push you when you need it. Walking out, I feel different than I did walking in. For the first time in a long time, I feel like I have a real shot at living better. I’m grateful for everything Stone River has given me."
