This November, we recognize World Diabetes Month and its significant impact on skilled nursing facilities.
Effective diabetes management is essential for the health and well-being of individuals in long-term care. Skilled nursing facilities prioritize personalized care plans that address each personβs unique needs, ensuring they receive the support necessary to manage their condition effectively.
Diabetes symptoms can vary, with some individuals experiencing mild symptoms that may go unnoticed. Common symptoms include frequent urination, increased thirst and hunger despite eating, extreme fatigue, blurry vision, slow healing cuts or bruises, weight loss, particularly in type 1 diabetes, and tingling or numbness in the hands or feet which is more common in type 2 diabetes. For more information on diabetes, its risks, and for resources, visit Diabetes.org or follow the American Diabetes Association.
Letβs raise awareness about diabetes and commit to providing compassionate care for those living with this chronic disease. π
