Dear friends - I am creating this page to let you know about my sister Wendy Richter, and her current health challenges and how you can help. This is not an easy letter for me to write but I know that without doing so someone who might be interested in helping just won't have that opportunity.

You can save a life. A living donor is needed. Just a few weeks ago Wendy was diagnosed with stage renal failure, or kidney failure. She currently is on dialysis several times a week and her only options are to continue this or to receive a transplant from a deceased donor or a kidney transplant from a living donor. Dialysis is only a temporary solution and is very physically exhausting, not to consider time-consuming with a treatment scheduled as frequently as four times a week and up to 4 hours a day. Wendy's best chance of survival lies in the hands of someone willing to be a living Kidney donor. What can you do? If you were healthy, aged 18 -65 and are willing to donate, Wendy may be able to accept the transplant. If you might be moved to undergo surgery and be a living donor for Wendy, information on this process can be found at SAhealth.com/kidney transplant.

I want to do everything I can to help find a living donor for Wendy. She needs a new kidney and I hope that this message will reach someone who is willing to be tested.

I realize this is a big request. But I make it on behalf of someone who devotes everyday of her life to her family.

If you can help, please do so. If you know anyone who might help, please forward this on. Additionally forwarding this to your family, friends, work, school, congregation, or any other community that you belong to would be most appreciated. If you would like to learn more about living kidney donation please feel free to contact sahealth.com/kidney transplant or contact a pre transplant coordinator at Methodist Hospital Specialty and Transplant at 210-575-4483. This would be a confidential conversation and get any questions that you have answered. At first you don't even have to disclose your name, only that you're interested in helping Wendy.

Please join me in the rest of our family in prayer that a donor will be located. Please pray for Wendy's health and spirit to be sustained during this time.

This page will continually be updated as I get more information and will be able to give you some additional information regarding the latest development.

Hi friends - I am creating this page to let you know that my sister, Wendy, is currently having significant health challenges and hoping this will potentially help. This is not an easy note for me to write but I know without this someone who might be interested in helping won't have that opportunity.

Wendy has end stage kidney disease or kidney failure and has three options for treatment. She is on dialysis currently and this is only a temporary solution. Her three options are to continue on dialysis, a kidney transplant from a deceased donor or a kidney transplant plant from a living donor. While she can remain on dialysis for many years, it is not a cure for kidney disease. It is extremely physically exhausting and time-consuming with treatments scheduled as frequently as three or four times a week and three or four times for each session.

As her sister I want to do everything I can to help find her a living Kidney donor. She needs a new kidney and we hope you would consider being tested as a donor.

I realize this is a big request.

But I make it on behalf of someone who devotes every day of her life to making a difference to her family. If you can help, please do so. If you know anyone who might help please let them know of this page.

Forwarding this to your family, friends, work, school, congregations, or any other communities that you belong to would be most appreciated.

She will be having her transplant at the Methodist Hospital Specialty and Transplant. Please visit sahealth.com\kidney transplant or you can reach a specialty transplant coordinator at 210-575-4485 and have a confidential conversation to get all your questions answered. At first you don't even have to disclose your name, only that you're interested in helping Wendy.

In general, a donor should be over 18 years old and ideally less than 60. They should be generally in good health and have a BMI of less than 30. Wendy is Type O negative blood.

This is a page that will continue to develop.

Please join me and our family in prayer as a potential donor is identified.

Thank you all in advance.
