Josefina E. Ponce, age 77, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2025, surrounded by the love she spent a lifetime giving to others.
Born on April 2, 1948, Josefina lived a life grounded in love, family, and quiet strength. She was a devoted mother, sister, and grandmother whose gentle spirit and kind heart left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Josefina’s love was steady and unconditional—she was a constant source of comfort, guidance, and warmth to her family and friends, always placing the needs of others before her own.
She is survived by her ex-husband, Ernest Ponce; her beloved sons, Ernest (Ernie) Ponce and his spouse Michelle Ponce, and Elton Ponce and his spouse Candie Guerra; her cherished siblings, Julia E. Posos, Aurora E. Harrison, Dora E. Aguilar, Jose C. Enriquez, Fernando C. Enriquez, and Alonzo C. Enriquez; and her treasured grandchildren, Nicholas Gutierrez, Savannah Ponce, Rene Ponce, Elton I. Ponce, Leo Guerra, Erik Ponce, Evan Ponce, and Jackie Ponce, all of whom were the pride and joy of her life. She is also survived by her dear friend of 35 years, Daniel Gonzales, as well as many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Josefina is preceded in death by her parents, Manuel V. Enriquez and Consuelo C. Enriquez; her beloved daughter, Elizabeth Ponce; her brothers, Manuel C. Enriquez Jr. and Jesus C. Enriquez; her precious grandson, Julian Ponce; and her nephews, Henry Posos Jr. and Jesus Enriquez Jr., whom she carried forever in her heart.
Josefina found joy in life’s simple and beautiful moments. She loved being surrounded by nature, caring for her many plants, and nurturing her yard, which was well known throughout the neighborhood for its beauty. Though lilies were her favorite flowers, she welcomed every plant—roses, vines, and all—with love and care, never turning one away. Her pond filled with goldfish brought endless joy to her grandchildren, creating memories they will cherish forever. She also enjoyed crafts, collecting special items, shopping through catalogs, raising cats, and spending meaningful time with family and friends. In her quiet moments, Josefina found peace listening to music and sharing songs she loved on Facebook.
Josefina’s life was a reflection of love, generosity, and deep devotion to family. Her legacy will live on through the many lives she touched and the memories she leaves behind. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held close in the hearts of those who loved her.
