In Loving Memory of Gloria V. Garza
March 27, 1948 – March 31, 2026

Gloria V. Garza, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on March 27, 1948, Gloria lived a life rooted in love, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family.

Raised on the west side of San Antonio, Gloria carried with her a deep sense of community, pride, and tradition that stayed with her throughout her life. She had a vibrant spirit and a playful heart, especially when it came to celebrating holidays. Whether she was dressed as Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, or wearing hearts to spread love, Gloria brought joy and laughter to those around her and created lasting memories for her family.

Affectionately known as “Mom Gloria” and “Chicken,” she had a way of making everyone feel at home. She was known for her warm heart, generous spirit, and the comfort of her presence. She found joy in the simple things—like sneaking a Coca-Cola when no one was looking—and in the meaningful traditions she created, such as bringing her family together with tickets to the San Antonio Fiesta Flambeau Parade and ice chest full of turkey legs.

Gloria was powerful in spirit—a true fighter who faced life’s challenges with courage, resilience, and grace. Her strength inspired everyone around her, and her love for her family never wavered. She dedicated her life to caring for others, always putting her loved ones before herself.

She is survived by her children, Sara, Michael, Sandra, and Barbara; her siblings, Victor, Olga, and Josie; as well as her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved deeply and unconditionally.

A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Gloria’s memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

“Her love was the light that guided us, and her strength will live on within us.”

Visitation will begin on Friday April 3, 2026 from 3pm to 8pm and a Prayer service to be recited at 6:30pm. All services to conclude that evening.

She found great joy in sports of every kind, rarely missing a game and delighting in texting friends and family throughout the action. She loved capturing life’s moments through photographs and sharing them instantly with those she loved.
