Join us for an evening of sacred cacao, reflection, and community under the January New Moon.

Arriving deep in winter and still within the Year of the Snake, this new moon invites discernment, patience, and inner wisdom. It is a threshold moment, not for rushing into renewal, but for aligning first. A time to listen for what the heart truly wants, and to meet it with responsibility, care, and integrity.

Let’s explore where devotion asks to take form in our lives. Not through pressure or striving, but through choices we can tend steadily over time.

Through sacred cacao, the ancestral medicine of the heart, we will soften into presence, share in circle, and gently clarify what we are ready to carry, and what we are ready to lay down.

This gathering is part of the Lunar Cycle Ceremony Series, and is also open to anyone called to join for this circle alone.

It’s been a year today since I received the news.
A year since the world shifted in a way I still don’t have language for.

I’m sharing these photos of Vanessa as we continue to bring her into circle, because her love is still there. Her picture is placed in the altar, she receives flowers, prayers, shared moments. And without fail, there is always a woman who speaks of how special Vanessa made her feel in circle. Even if it was only once. Even if they barely knew her.

People talk about her hugs.
How they lingered.
How they held you.
Her spirit.
Her presence.

Vanessa told me more than once that she felt so many circles were meant for her. That she felt safe. That she found sisterhood in ways she never imagined. And in return, she held so many of us, with her laughter, her love, her care, her unwavering support.

At this time last year, Crystal and I were at the hospital with her girls. Watching. Listening. Hugging family members. Offering support while not knowing how to hold ourselves. It all felt dreamlike. I remember the GPS saying 11:11 as arrival time that morning. Entering the hospital. And then… so much is a blur.

What I remember most is you.
The shock of your absence in the physical realm.
The nervous system overload.
The noise.
The messages.
The people moving in ways that felt disconnected from the love you deserved.

And yet, there was also clarity. We kept hearing how we were the ones who really knew you. What a privilege that is, to have witnessed you, learned from you, received your hugs again and again, your voice notes, your honesty, your laughter.

Your goodbye was divinely orchestrated. We adorned you with flowers and oils, just as you loved to do for others. And still, we are here. Talking about you. With you. Listening for your laugh. Knowing exactly what you would’ve loved, what you would’ve said, what you would’ve done.

We are still dreaming the dreams we held together, for our children, for our community, for a world rooted in love and belonging.

Vanessa, you gave so much.
And you are still giving.
Through every circle.
Every hug remembered.
Every heart you touched, sometimes in just one moment that changes everything.

Thank you for walking with us.
Thank you for holding us.
Thank you for loving us.

Following Indigenous Mother, Writer, Poet and Botanist Robin Wall Kimmerer and Chicana activist and writer Gloria Anzaldúa, this seminar will explore the ways that coming home to our interconnectedness with nature guides us back to our self and, in turn, builds a home for authentic community.

We will study the teachings distilled in Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge, and the Teachings of Plants and Borderlands/La Frontera: The New Mestiza, to gather understanding of the relationship between nurturing our connection with nature and reintegrating our internal landscape.

The study of Kimmerer and Anzaldúa’s life philosophies will go hand in hand with an exploration of the structure and craft of their essays as guides for our own creative writing. Paying attention to the way that these authors cultivate meaning through metaphor, symbolism, hybrid language, and narrative arc, we will learn to craft our own explorations into self, land, language, and the spirit that weaves all together.

Join us for a 4 week excursion into reconnecting our selves and our stories with our roots in the land.

This seminar will be led by mother, writer, and teacher Elisabeth Hedrick, with Diana Dos Santos holding ceremonial space and offering ancestral cacao medicine as a gentle companion to our writing practice. Each gathering will open with intention-setting, grounding, and cacao shared in a reverent way to support presence, heart-centered reflection, and creative flow. Ceremony will be woven throughout our time together, creating a container that honors writing as both a creative and relational practice rooted in reciprocity with self, community, and Earth.

We will gather in sisterhood with grandmother cacao, sound, and drum to ground the body and soften the heart. Through breath, rhythm, and shared presence, we invite you to drop into your heart, to feel what needs to be felt, to forgive, to grieve, and to honor what has carried you this far.

In collaboration with Blue Heart Studio, our Lunar Cycle Ceremony Series continues with a new moon gathering devoted to wisdom, vision, and embodied prayer.

The New Moon in Sagittarius invites us to lift our gaze, to reflect on the larger arc of our lives, our spiritual growth, and the intentions guiding us forward as we move toward the stillness and depth of winter.

Together we will:
• Share sacred cacao as a medicine of presence and heart-opening
• Witness one another, honoring what is arising
• Journey through guided somatic breathwork for deeper release and integration
• Sophia Rising scripture, weaving wisdom and divine feminine devotion into the circle

✨ Soul Weavers Series ✨
Honoring Doña Silvia 🤎🔥

Some women carry whole borderlands in their bones. Doña Silvia is one of them, an elder whose life has been shaped by two cultures meeting, crossing, blending, and creating something entirely its own. She is a living story, a bridge, a matriarch in her own right.

In her 70s, she continues to say yes to learning, to movement, to curiosity. She became a yoga teacher in recent years, a reminder that the path doesn’t end; it keeps unfolding as long as the heart stays open. She moves her body with joy, with devotion, with the wisdom of someone who understands that movement is prayer.

She has been reclaiming the medicine of cacao with so much humility and tenderness, approaching the medicine not as something to perform, but as something to honor. At The Art of Circle, she supported our workshop by offering movement, serving cacao, holding space with strength and softness, and showing us what it looks like to be both rooted and vulnerable at the same time.

And being in community with her reminds me of one of the greatest gifts we have as women: the richness of different generations learning side by side. Elders with decades of lived experience, younger women with fresh vision, we keep each other humble, curious, and growing. This cross-generational circle is priceless. It keeps traditions alive while allowing new ways to bloom.

Doña Silvia carries stories from the frontera. Stories of her people, her lineage, her childhood, her elders and her matriarch energy is undeniable. She mother’s communities. She mothers through presence, through laughter, through grounding, through wisdom passed quietly from the marrow of her being.

Powerful. Humble. Fiercely feminine. Chicana heart. La frontera walking in human form.

I honor you, Doña Silvia, your courage to keep learning, your devotion to community, and the way you show us that womanhood, elderhood, and sacred leadership are lifelong journeys.

Gracias, hermana mayor, for weaving your medicine into our circles.

For 6 months, we’ll journey together in a Lunar Cycle Ceremony Series, anchored in:
🤎 Sacred Cacao – medicine of presence and ancestral connection, softening us into truth and deep listening.
📜 Sophia (Wisdom) Scripture – contemplative readings from the Wisdom of Solomon, attuning to the ceaseless radiance of the feminine face of God.
🤍 Somatic Breathwork – guided practices to move energy and release what is ready to shift.

🌑 New Moon Ceremonies (in-person): We gather in circle to drink cacao, listen deeply to scripture, and breathe together.
🌕 Full Moon Integration (online): We connect virtually for reflection, community sharing, and integration practices.
