Back Pain Stopping Your Lifts? Here’s How Our Patient Back on Track

Meet one of our amazing patients She’s a dedicated CrossFit Athlete at used to pushing heavy loads but during a back squat cycle, she felt a pop in her lower back. That night, the pain radiated across her right side, down her hip, and even into her quad. Sitting for more than 20 minutes hurt, and even simple workouts left her back feeling tight and fatigued.

Sound familiar? Many athletes and weekend warriors experience the same: nagging lower back pain that limits training, interrupts daily life, and makes you wonder if you’ll ever feel normal again.

Through a combination of manual therapy including myofascial release, dry needling, and mobilizations plus progressive therapeutic exercise and home programs, she steadily regained strength and stability in her lumbar region. We also used neuromuscular re-education as needed to support her recovery.

The results?
    •    She returned to full barbell loading with zero pain
    •    Achieved a personal record on her clean and jerk
    •    Can now handle high-intensity workouts, even 280 burpees, without back pain

Her story isn’t unique, many athletes experience back pain, setbacks, and fear of returning to training. The difference is a personalized PT plan that addresses the root cause, restores movement, and guides you safely back to your goals.

💥 26.2 Overhead Prep: Are Your Lats Holding You Back?

With 26.1 behind us, more overhead and rig work is coming. If your shoulders feel tight, it might not be your shoulder, it could be your lats!

Your lats are big muscles on the sides of your back. Think of them like strong ropes that help your arms move. Tight lats = stuck arms = harder pull-ups and wall walks 😬.
✅ Test it:
• Back against a wall
• PVC pipe overhead
• Keep ribs down, lower back flat
• Raise arms overhead without arching

If you can’t, your lats may be limiting you.
🔥 Turn it into a warm-up:
• Shift hands slightly, add a controlled shrug at the top
• Hold 5 sec
• Repeat 20–30x
Stretchy, open lats = shoulders move freely, lifts feel easier, and you stay safe. Don’t wait for 26.2 to show you the tightness. Test & warm up now! 💪

Grateful doesn’t even begin to cover it 🙏

Thank you for trusting Positive Action Rehab & Performance with your shoulder and hip mobility. From your first call to your final rep, our goal is simple: deliver a stellar, one-on-one experience that finds the TRUE root cause, not just the painful body part.

Dr. Troy prides himself on breaking down complex anatomy into a clear, actionable plan so you understand exactly what’s happening and how we’re fixing it. Because when you understand your body, you take ownership of your progress. 💪

Mobility issues don’t fix themselves.
Compensation turns into chronic pain.
And waiting only delays performance.

If you’re dealing with shoulder, hip, or movement limitations, this is your sign.

If your shoulder feels loose, clicky, or unstable… it’s probably not a stretching problem.

It’s a control problem.

Your shoulder doesn’t just need to be stronger, it needs to know how to stay centered and stable when you move.

Stop stretching what already feels loose. Start training stability.

📲 DM or call us if your shoulder needs real control, not more band stretches. 💪

Did You Know We Offer Vestibular (Vertigo) Physical Therapy?

If you’re avoiding movement or working out because of spinning or imbalance you don’t have to live that way.

📲 DM us or call our office to schedule an evaluation. Let’s get you steady and confident again.

02/22/2026

If your shoulder feels unstable, weak, or constantly “loose,” it’s usually not just a strength problem.

It’s a control problem.

Here we’re using dry needling to the posterior shoulder capsule to:
✅ Improve local blood flow
✅ Decrease protective tension
✅ Increase neuromuscular awareness
✅ Create a better environment for activation

But here’s the key 👇

Needles aren’t the solution! they’re the primer.

We follow it up with targeted strength work like bottoms-up kettlebell holds to activate the serratus anterior and reinforce shoulder stability where it actually matters.

Stimulate → Activate → Strengthen → Stabilize.

That’s how you rebuild a resilient shoulder.

If your shoulder clicks, shifts, or feels weak overhead, don’t just stretch it.

📲 DM us “SHOULDER” and let’s build real stability. 💪

Or are you just stretching them… and hoping for the best?
The Bunkie Plank Isometric Hold is a game-changer for building true anterior chain strength especially for runners who need strong, resilient hip flexors to drive power, maintain stride efficiency, and prevent overload injuries.

If you’re logging miles but skipping this… you might be leaving performance (and durability) on the table.

💥 Strong hip flexors = better stride control
💥 Better control = less compensation
💥 Less compensation = fewer injuries

Save this. Try it. Then let us know how it feels.
Want your running assessed the right way?
📲 DM us “RUN” and let’s build a stronger stride.

🎉 Say hello to the newest member of Positive Action Dr. Eric Jin, DPT! 👋

Eric is all about helping runners, lifters, and active humans move better and get back to doing what they love without pain holding them hostage.

What we appreciate most about Eric is how he listens first. He takes time to understand your goals, your schedule, and what matters to you, then builds a plan around your life, not the other way around. He’s big on helping people understand what’s actually going on in their body so recovery makes sense and doesn’t feel like random exercises.

He gets it because he’s lived it. From powerlifting at UT Austin to navigating his own injuries as a runner, especially the ones that didn’t heal on a straight line. Eric knows how frustrating it feels when progress stalls. That experience shaped how he treats now: with patience, intention, and movement that truly supports long-term health. 💪✨

Outside the clinic you’ll find him:
☕ trying new coffee shops
🎹 playing piano
🧗 bouldering or hiking
🍳 experimenting in the kitchen

Feel free to give him all the warning lol and say hi. We’re really glad he’s here.
