World Cancer Day reminds us that behind every diagnosis is a person, a family, and a story.

For Dr. May, our Medical Director at Sacred Mission Hospice, her passion for both oncology and hospice care is deeply personal. Her journey began with her uncle, who was diagnosed with stomach cancer—an experience that shaped her calling to care for patients with compassion, dignity, and expertise.

At Sacred Mission Hospice, we walk alongside patients and families facing cancer, focusing on comfort, symptom management, and quality of life at every stage. Because care should always be personal—and no one should walk this journey alone.

Wearing her signature color, red, Dr. May personally does home visits for every Sacred Mission Hospice patient, ensuring compassionate, hands-on care where it matters most.

As a trained expert in symptom management, Dr. May is deeply involved in each patient’s journey, bringing comfort, dignity, and peace to patients and families every single day.

We recently received a touching message from the son of one of our patients, and we wanted to share his words:

“I wanted to pass along a HUGE "thank you" to you, Dr. May, and the entire Sacred Mission team for taking on mom as a patient in January, then all the help this year. You and the team are literally how Mom made it to 101 years old! All the excellent care for Mom is very much appreciated.”

Messages like this truly remind us why we do what we do. It is an honor to walk alongside families and provide compassionate care during such important moments. 💜
