Thanks to the generosity of our donors, University Health’s SaludArte: Art of Healing Program welcomed its newest Artist-in-Residence, San Antonio native Barbara Felix.

Barbara recently visited several University Health locations, hosting live painting demonstrations at both University Hospital and the Robert B. Green Campus. The artwork she created during these visits will become part of the SaludArte program, helping to bring art and healing into the hospital environment.

Barbara is an interdisciplinary artist whose work focuses on portraiture and the human figure. To learn more about her work, tap the link below to see one of her most recent exhibitions in Austin.

Access to care shouldn’t depend on how far someone has to travel. We’re grateful to our partners who are helping remove transportation barriers for patients during some of their most vulnerable moments.

Thanks to a $5,000 grant from the Union Pacific Railroad Community Ties Giving Program, University Health has distributed more than 300 Valero Energy fuel cards through the Care Coordination team to support patients receiving cancer treatment at University Health.

We’re also thankful to have recently received a $10,000 grant from the American Cancer Society which will fund an additional 700 fuel cards — bringing the total to 1,000 fuel cards that will further strengthen this vital resource for our community.

We are excited to continue working with our generous donors and supporting University Health’s strategic priorities in the year ahead. 💙

As we prepare for another year of highlighting how philanthropy can create a meaningful impact in our community. We’d like to take a moment to look back on 2025 and give a huge shoutout to our amazing friends and supporters who stopped by the hospital to drop off toys for our young patients during the holidays. 🎁✨🧸

Looking for something meaningful to read this new year? How about the recent feature story in the San Antonio Express-News and Hearst that validates why University Health is the No. 1 liver transplant program in the nation.

The article also shines a spotlight on donor-funded technology like the da Vinci robot surgical system, which is transforming how our care teams approach surgery and recovery for transplant patients. It also mentions Dr. Danielle Fritze, who is the McComb’s Endowed Surgical Director of Pediatric Liver Transplant at University Health. This is the very first position endowed through University Health Foundation, thanks to the generosity of the McCombs Family.

Tap the link and learn more about the role donor generosity has played in helping University Health develop a reputation for providing the very best care to its transplant patients.

Did you spot the Grinch or Chick-fil-A's infamous “Eat Mor Chickin” cow at University Health Main and Women’s & Children’s Hospitals this week?
They were here spreading holiday cheer and handing out toys to our pediatric patients and Chick-fil-A nuggets to our hardworking team members. 💚🐮

We are so grateful for our friends Monique Cardenas - Frontline Properties for hosting their 5th Annual Grinchmas Toy Drive. Their generosity continues to uplift our community and bring joy to the faces of our patients and care teams during the holiday season! 🎄✨
