Helping kids understand medical procedures can be challenging, but at University Health Women’s & Children’s Hospital, there’s a tool that makes it a little bit easier.

Thanks to the generosity of our donor Hope Hits Harder Cancer Foundation, young patients have access to the “Kitten Scanner,” a fun and innovative device that helps ease anxiety before their MRI or CT scans. By letting children learn what to expect during their procedure in a playful, hands-on way, the Kitten Scanner helps reduce stress and build confidence during the care journey 🐱💛.

On Friday, we celebrated World Diabetes Day at the Texas Diabetes Institute with our partners at University Health. With diabetes rates in Bexar County higher than both state and national averages, the Foundation was honored to support University Health in providing residents with the education and resources they need to live healthier lives.

A special thank you to our friend La Cocinera Mexicana Blanca Aldaco, owner of Aldaco's, for sharing a delicious and healthy cooking demonstration of the traditional Hispanic dish Pozole Verde.

We’re also grateful to our donor H-E-B for once again supporting University Health and providing free turkey vouchers or a gift card to attendees that participated in all the activities offered.

Lego bricks can inspire some of the greatest creations and they can also be the best play pals for our young patients!

Recently, in honor of their son Luke’s 17th birthday, our friends Janelle and Jason Baca stopped by to hand out Lego sets to kiddos in the pediatric hematology and oncology clinic at .

We are so grateful to the Baca family for continuing to bring smiles and joy to our young patients and their families!

We were honored to welcome The Human Bean team to the Breast Center to celebrate the impact of their 20th Annual Day!

After collecting 100% of the sale proceeds from their event, they have generously donated more than $4,000 to our Women’s Health Fund. 🎉

A huge thanks goes out to Carlos and Adrian De La Rosa, along with the rest of their amazing team at and , for their outstanding work in hosting this third-party fundraiser to help more women across our community access life-saving care.

The University Health Annual Fall Fest was a day to remember at Morgan’s Wonderland! 🎡

Hosted by our Child Life team and funded by University Health Foundation, the event brought together pediatric patients and their families from the Comprehensive Care Clinic, NICU Grad and NICU PREMiere programs to enjoy the fall festivities!

Last week, the Foundation team visited the University Health Simulation Center, a space where current and future health care professionals receive hands-on, real-life training.

We were thrilled to be joined by Brian Freeman, University Health’s vice president of capital improvement projects, and Turner Texas team members Mike Shook, Bill McDonnell, and Shermeka Hudson, who were there to present us with a generous $25,000 check to support the advancement of University Health’s mission.

Today, we celebrated International Credit Union Day with our friends at Randolph Brooks Federal Credit Union (RBFCU)!

In honor of this global celebration, RBFCU’s Investment Group visited the University Health Women’s & Children’s Hospital to donate boxes filled with stuffed animals, toys, books and more, all collected through their annual office toy drive.

We’re so grateful for their generosity and continued partnership! Thank you, RBFCU, for spreading joy and fun to children and families at University Health! 💙

At University Health, pink isn’t just a color; it’s a call to action!

This week, our healthyUexpress mobile mammography bus drove up to Business Center I, bringing convenient, life-saving screenings right to our team members. Every destination this bus travels to helps more women across San Antonio and Bexar County access the care they deserve.

Through University Health Foundation, philanthropy will continue to anchor University Health’s commitment to providing access to care for all, and our generous donors have already helped us fund some incredible breast cancer initiatives. Whether it is funding for research or a free diagnostic for those without insurance, our efforts are helping with more early detections, more survivors and more hope.

Our friends at The Human Bean are providing San Antonio area residents with the opportunity to satisfy their caffeine cravings and give back in a meaningful way!

On Friday, October 17, both The Human Bean of San Antonio FM 78 and The Human Bean Pat Booker Road, Universal City, TX are hosting their annual event. Stop by and grab a pink latte (or maybe two…we won’t judge 😋). All food and beverage proceeds on that day will be donated to University Health Foundation’s Women’s Health Fund.
