We want to hear from you! đź’¬
As disABILITYsa continues to connect people with disabilities and their families to information, resources, and opportunities for inclusion, your story helps show what that impact looks like in real life.

If our programs, services, events, or connections have made a difference for you or someone you know, would you share a brief testimonial with us? Your perspective brings our mission to life and helps others understand why disability inclusion matters in San Antonio.

We’re also exploring the chance to record a few selected stories (with the support of a coach!) so we can share these powerful messages more widely. Complete our guided testimonial form here: https://loom.ly/cs1Ievo. Thank you for being part of the disABILITYsa community. Your voice truly helps shape a more inclusive San Antonio. 💙

If your testimonial is selected, we’ll invite you to a short, guided recording session and thank you with a $25 gift card.

At disABILITYsa, we are excited to partner with the McNay Art Museum to make art experiences more welcoming to visitors with disabilities. Today, we're providing new docent training focused on disability awareness, inclusive communication, and practical access tips for tours.

This training helps docents feel confident welcoming visitors who use mobility devices, communicate in different ways, or process sensory input differently—so more people can enjoy San Antonio’s art history without barriers. Community support allows us to offer trainings like this at low or no cost to cultural institutions.

When you donate or sponsor programming, you’re helping museums, parks, and community spaces across the city become more inclusive. https://loom.ly/JK55nD0

We have some kindness to celebrate today! 🎉
Brittany from Brevity Coffee stopped by with a check celebrating the 537 mochas sold on January 12th across participating locations during our fundraiser. Each of those mochas helped fuel disABILITYsa’s work to educate, advance, engage, and strengthen opportunities for people with disabilities in San Antonio.

We’re also thrilled to announce that Chastity Colabianchi is the winner of our door prize drawing and will receive a $40 VISA gift card and a disABILITYsa tumbler.

Thank you to everyone who grabbed a mocha, made a virtual donation, or shared a selfie—your support turns coffee into real community impact. 💙 Missed ? You can still donate a latte to our mission by clicking here: https://loom.ly/EiFnlaY

Our programs are designed to be free or low-cost so cost is never a barrier to access—but that only works when the community fuels the mission. The Purse‑u‑ability Auction is one of the key events that keeps disABILITYsa running: supporting accessible venues, ASL interpretation, adaptive materials, family navigation, and more. By purchasing tickets or sponsoring the event, you help fund the full 2026 program year, including inclusive events, advocacy, and education.

🎟️ Early bird pricing has been extended through February 7th, so now is the perfect time to secure your seat, invite friends, or confirm a sponsorship. When you show up for Purse‑u‑ability, you’re keeping doors open for disabled San Antonians all year long.

Nature should be for everyone—and our community partner, the San Antonio Botanical Garden, is working hard to make that a reality.

From paved, accessible pathways and free wheelchairs to an accessible shuttle and plenty of shaded seating, the Garden is designed to welcome visitors with a wide range of mobility and sensory needs.

Their Access & Inclusion initiatives also reduce financial and transportation barriers through Nature Navigator: Growing Community, Community Ticket Program, Museums for All, and Community Memberships.

Those diagonal stripes next to accessible parking are not “extra space” or overflow parking—they’re access aisles and part of the accessible route.

When cars park on or over them, wheelchair users and others with mobility devices may not be able to get in or out of their vehicles safely, or reach the curb ramp at all. Please keep access aisles and marked pathways clear so everyone can move safely and independently.

01/29/2026

San Antonio’s River Walk is more than a landmark—it’s a living, evolving public space that should be welcoming to everyone, including disabled residents and visitors. Since the early 1980s, the City has been working to remove barriers by adding ramps, smoother pathways, and elevators at more than fifty locations, often in partnership with River Walk businesses. This work helps fulfill both the spirit and the intent of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) while preserving the unique character that makes the River Walk a world‑class destination.

Now, the City—led by the Office of Historic Preservation—is developing a new River Walk Strategic Plan to guide future decisions about design, accessibility, safety, and activation along the River Walk. This is a key moment for people with disabilities, families, service providers, and allies to share what is and isn’t working: Where are ramps missing? Where are routes confusing or unsafe? What would make the River Walk easier to navigate, enjoy, and participate in events?

The survey takes less than four minutes and is open until 5 p.m. on Jan. 31, 2026. Everyone who completes it will be entered to win a River Walk staycation prize package, but more importantly, your feedback will directly inform long‑term investments in accessibility and inclusion.
