Give us our respect we deserve it!
Massage therapists and our profession are often not given the credit we truly deserve.
From my experience, I’ve learned this:
Doctors diagnose and prescribe.
Specialists focus on specific conditions.
Nurses assist doctors, give guidance, and are responsible for administering medications.
Physical therapists work on mobility and prescribe exercises to help regain movement.
Chiropractors focus on spinal alignment and skeletal adjustments.
Massage therapists rehabilitate muscles and help keep them healthy and functioning.
Estheticians work to maintain healthy skin.
Each of these fields has a purpose. But when they are used holistically, that’s when you see the best results.
Believe it or not, massage therapists carry a deep wealth of knowledge about the human body. Your anatomy. Your biology. Even the chemistry of how your body responds to stress, injury, and healing. We spend 9 to 12 months in school, go through a rigorous licensing process, and must maintain continuing education and a professional license for the entire duration of our careers.
Many times, we are able to offer insight, guidance, or supportive care that other medical practitioners may not think to address, especially when it comes to muscular health, tension patterns, and how the body truly feels day to day.
So please, stop discrediting massage therapists.
We are not “just massage.”
We are educated, licensed professionals who care deeply about your well-being and your healing journey. When respected and included as part of a holistic approach, massage therapy can make a powerful difference. 💆🏽♀️✨
