One of the main reasons we recommend spaying is to avoid mammary cancer. That's right! Just like humans, our companion animals develop mammary cancer from the influence of estrogen. It is actually quite common in un-spayed or late spayed females and we see it often in dogs, cats, rats and rabbits. Bunnies frequently also develop uterine cancer. Have your girl dog, cat or bunny spayed to prevent a full-sided (plus one gland from the opposite side) mastectomy like this sweet girl Dr. Byrd operated on.

Our team thoroughly enjoyed caring for seven abandoned baby bunnies and their two parents during two days of cuteness overload! Thanks to the persistence of a concerned neighbor, ACS and Alamo City House Rabbits, the bunnies were brought to safety and ACHR has generously and compassionately stepped in to take the bunnies and provide much needed care. While the entire group is recovering from intensive ear mites, reach out to to help foster any of the bunnies in need from our community!
