It's been a great first week at my new job! I'm filled with joy that my many years of hard work has led to this. Seeing my badge have my job title as a Marriage and Family Therapist sealed the deal that I did it, and earned my way to this point in my journey.
My journey to becoming a therapist began 10 years ago when I decided to change my degree and career from IT to psychology. There were many times I doubted my choice, but through all the mental and physical hurdles I overcame them with the help of my support system.
In addition to getting a position I wanted I was informed that I am the only LMFT at my location, I am truly honored to be chosen to begin a shift in the VA towards systemic mental health and it's a big step to lead a path for more LMFTs.
No matter where you are in your journey towards your goals, remember to keep going and take the little steps to achieve them even if it seems fast away, it's a marathon not a sprint.
