Dear Patient
Your health is of the utmost importance to us. As your primary care providers, we want to reassure you that we are able to meet your healthcare needs during the Coronavirus (CODVID-19) pandemic. With this news, it's understandable to feel concerned or even a bit anxious, but we are available for appointments via telemedicine or in the office for urgent care needs that can not be addressed via TeleMedicine.
In an effort to minimize the risk of COVID-19 transmission and promote a safer environment, we are asking patients to participate in social distancing, so avoid large gatherings, maintain distance of greater than 6 feet with people. We want our patients to stay at home, unless absolutely necessary to get essential items. In that regard, we want to make sure our patients have someone that can pick-up and delivery their groceries, and pick up their medications. If these are concerns you may be having, please let one of our staff members know.
If you need to speak to Dr. Davis or one of the Physician Assistants/Nurse Practitioner to discuss any concerns regarding the current situation, we will be more than happy to schedule a telemedicine visit. We are taking the aggressive steps to reduce the risk of transmission in our clinic and therefore feel it necessary to complete follow-up office visits and most of our urgent care visits via phone or video appointment. IF you feel your symptoms require an in-office visit, please notify us and we can schedule an appointment for you. All patients with scheduled physicals will still be completed via telephone, but the physical portion will be rescheduled for a later date.
Please do not go to the ER for non-urgent matters, please call our clinic first. These symptoms include fever, cough and shortness of breath. We will direct you to the appropriate facility if you meet all criteria for COVID-19 testing. We are open Monday-Friday from 07:30am-5:00pm. If it is a medical emergency and you are having signs of a stroke, chest pain, loss of life, limb or eyesight, do not hesitate and either call 911 or go to your nearest Emergency Room for evaluation.
Everyday Prevention of COVID-19 Transmission:
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer with greater than 60% alcohol
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands
- Clean and disinfect frequently touches objects with wipes/cleansers that contain >60% alcohol
- Sneeze or cough into your flexed elbow or cover cough/sneeze with tissue
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
Thank you for your patience! We will be working to ensure you and our community remain healthy. It is a true privilege and honor to care for our patients and we are proud of our staff who are working during this time to provide you with the highest service possible during this pandemic.
Sincerely,
Dr. Lisa Davis and Staff

Dear Patients,

The health and wellness of our patients is our top priority, and therefore, limiting the spread of COVID-19 in our community and among our most vulnerable members is of the utmost importance.

Our office will remain open as long at it is safe and in compliance with State and Federal Recommendations. We currently will adhere to the following procedures:

1. If you are having a medical emergency, you must call 911 or go directly to your closest Emergency Room.
2 In order to protect the health of our patients , especially the vulnerable elderly and chronically ill, we ask those with respiratory symptoms to not come into the office . We can set up a video appointment and treat you by phone instead .

3 Any patient with cough and fever will be asked a series of questions by phone to triage their risk and give appropriate guidance on further testing will have a video appointment set up .

If testing is needed, patients will be directed to the appropriate testing facilities within Bexar County. If a higher level of care is needed, then patient will be directed to the Emergency Room. Any patient that is tested should isolate themselves at home until results are processed and received.
4 Any patient with general health issues or other acute illnesses may still be seen in the office by scheduling an appointment in person or by telemedicine .
5 . Prepare and don’t panic .

Additionally, all patients are encouraged to continue to adhere to the guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Texas Department of Health on methods to limit transmission of COVID-19 including, but not limited to the following:
• Frequent handwashing/use of hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol
• Isolation at home if you are having fever
• Covering your cough.
• Those with direct exposure to known positive persons should isolate themselves at home for 14 days.

We appreciate you trusting us with your health and wellness. Please feel free to contact the office with questions or concerns.

Keep Active This November

When it's colder and darker out, it's more difficult to inspire ourselves to get active. Often there aren't enough hours of daylight to get in a daily walk or run, and gyms can be a nuisance to travel to. In addition, the colder weather is rather discouraging. But with the steadily approaching holidays, it's crucial to keep up with your healthy goals. Below are a few ideas about how to remain active as winter approaches.

Start New and Healthy Traditions this Fall!

Turn over a new leaf this October by giving these fall favorites a healthy and active twist.

Fall Festivals- Getting out and walking around at the local fall festivals can be a fun way to get your steps in for the day. Instead of buying food at the festival, bring healthy snacks and/or lunches along. This can be a great tradition to start with your family and friends so you can all enjoy the fun atmosphere of the festivals, but still keep your health goals top of mind.

Hiking, Walking, and Biking- Get the most out of these months by going for a daily walk with your friends or family, take a leisurely bike ride, or go for a nice morning hike. No matter what level of intensity you want to pursue, there is something for us all during these cooler months.

September is National Cholesterol Education Month

Everyone needs cholesterol to live. Your body has two sources of cholesterol: the liver produces it and the body absorbs it from food. When you have too much bad, LDL cholesterol it can cause a build up in the artery wall lining and may lead to a blockage (plaque). Blockages make it harder for blood to get where it is needed, increasing risk of heart attack or stroke.According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, seventy-one million American adults suffer from high cholesterol, but only a third have the condition under control. National Cholesterol Education Month is the perfect time to get your cholesterol checked and take action to improve your heart health.
