Healing deepens through relationship. This is at the core of my therapeutic practice, and the first thing we build together when I become your counselor.

I believe wholeheartedly that the power of therapeutic space goes beyond insight and skill building. It’s about being and feeling met.

It’s a space for your experience to be received with presence and without urgency. A space void of someone trying to “fix” you. Inside of this attunement your body begins to remember what safety feels like, and can start looking at the things that might feel heavy or sticky or full of charge.

This is where true integration begins. Not in the rush of a breakthrough, but in the steadiness of allowing trust to build and your full self to be witnessed. A gentle return home to yourself. 🐚💛

When emotions feel unpredictable or too big to hold, your body isn’t asking for control, it’s asking for care.
Our nervous systems thrive in co-regulation. Inside of the attunement of another.
Therapy offers this attuned space for your system to settle, to remember safety and to feel held while you make sense of what’s been hard to carry.

caregiving for young children, the postpartum window, and pregnancy are filled with some of the most expansive emotional experiences. an unexplainable type of love but also some of the darkest most uncomfortable moments. our emotional self is expanding in all directions to make space for new life. for me, it felt like a cycle of death & rebirth. with both of my babies I had to allow part of my sense of self to die in order to rebirth myself as mother. mother of one, and then mother of two.

I say this to you and also to myself - you are not alone in this. child rearing has historically been undervalued which leaves so many parents feeling alone in this earth shattering change. you can, but you don’t have to name your experience with a diagnosis for it to have value or deserve space to be heard. the spectrum of experiences during this time is vast and wide. I’m not here to give you answers or advice, but I am here to listen and to validate your experience. as a therapist and a fellow parent. we are all just humans out here trying to do our best, and not feeling our best is part of that process.

A four part group gathering to explore and experience a powerful breathing meditation . In addition to practicing breathwork together, we will leave plenty of space each for questions and time to foster heartfelt connection among fellow group members. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Led by Hamsa Yoga School co-founders, Courtney Morris and Debby Andersen. In addition to teaching yoga, both Courtney and Debby work as mentors for holistic living blending multiple disciplines to support clients on their healing journey. Courtney Morris works as an integrative mental health counselor with a focus in somatic healing practices. Debby Andersen is an Ayurvedic practitioner and yoga therapist specializing in breathwork.

This group is open to anyone new to breathwork, or those who are experienced in this practice.

We will meet Wednesdays starting Jan 17th from 1-2:30pm. Cost for the group is $185. To register visit link in bio or Hamsayogaschool.com

More on breathwork:

Breathwork is an active meditation technique. The style of breathwork we will practice together is an active, 3-part breath that assists stuck energy and emotions to break up and release. Much like our brain can store memories, every time we experience trauma or stuff our emotions, they can become stored in our muscles and nervous system.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The breath gives the mind and the body something to focus on so that the “active mind” can relax and allow the subconscious to be explored. Breathwork is helpful for processing anything you feel is causing distress in your life. Things like grief, negative self-talk, shame, guilt, anger, + anxiety. It’s also supportive of releasing energy tied to stress, depression, limiting beliefs, and trauma. Breathwork can be used to cultivate new energy like trusting your intuition, living heart-centered, or connecting to creativity.

portal🌀a liminal space of change, a bridge between two places, a pathway that connects.

Metaphorically, when we find ourselves in a portal it can feel confusing. Often times our body or mind can arrive on the other side before our nervous system does and this can feel chaotic.

If you find yourself here, regardless of what kind of portal you are sitting in, remember that your body is on your side. Your body speaks to you through sensation, and these sensations can be clues to help us shed the things that will no longer serve us on the other side. And to make space for the new 🌱

You don’t have to do this alone! Whether it’s a therapist, a coach, or a healer that you trust — remembering that you can ask for help in these moments is sometimes the hardest part 🙏🏻

What type of abundance could unfold in your life if you consciously chose to slow down… “stop and smell the roses” to speak 🌹

Are you making time to enjoy the things you’ve acquired?

Are you making time to relish in the relationships you have?

Are you giving yourself space to dream and daydream, to fall into the flow of gratitude for this life?

The stars above are making space for this in all of us right now ✨ - but also, this is such an important and relieving life skill to give yourself permission for!

Here is a practical way to start opening yourself to the abundance of slowing down. In your mind, or in your journal fill in the blank here:

“Today I will relish in the abundance of my life by slowing down to _____.”

a few examples:
- Prepare myself a meal from scratch
- Eat my food outside in the sunshine without scrolling my phone
- Lotion or oil my body after I bathe
- Take a walk and listen to the sounds around me
- Enjoy a glass of wine while the sun sets
- Listen to a record
- Paint my nails
- Play an instrument
- Meditate
- Sing for myself
- Love on my dog/cat

And now after writing these I am going to have a hard time picking one 😂

YOU are worth it!

Shirodhara: and Ayurvedic body therapy 🌻 starting in mid-june, I will start offering this therapy again. I’m so excited! It is simple, but so powerful and a wonderful complement to talk therapy.

See below for an explanation:

This simple yet profound treatment, in which a warm stream of herbalized oil is poured over your forehead and brow center, helps to balance and stabilize the activity of the mind. This soothing treatment is good for mental and emotional balance, and helps to awaken the third eye chakra, the center of spiritual consciousness ✨
