UKCOM’s Lexington Latino Health Advocacy Association hosted its first “Doc for a Day” event with Amachi Lexington, a local peer mentoring program. Over 30 medical student volunteers were on site March 5th at the Woodhill Community center to lead young students through multiple medical simulation stations including CPR basics, Stop the Bleed, OR simulation, intubation and orthopedic splinting. Our hope was that by engaging in hands-on learning that we might inspire the next generation of students interested in healthcare careers.

The University of Kentucky’s PA program is honored to participate in the Shoulder-to-Shoulder Brigade, an extraordinary, immersive international medical mission dedicated to bringing essential healthcare to under-resourced areas of rural Ecuador. This transformative experience not only allows our faculty and students to serve communities in need but also deepens their clinical skills, cultural understanding, and commitment to compassionate care. We are privileged to be part of this mission in 2025 and look forward to continuing this meaningful partnership for many years to come.
