Happy National Female Physicians Day 👩⚕️✨ to my mentors and colleagues. 👠
Women now make up nearly half of plastic surgery residents, yet only about 20% of practicing plastic surgeons…proof of how far we’ve come, and how much work remains.
We stand on the shoulders of pioneers like Dr. Alma Dea Morani, the first female plastic surgeon in the U.S., who broke barriers when women weren’t welcome in operating rooms, let alone leading them.
Feeling especially proud celebrating my colleagues, fresh off the energy of the National Women in Plastic Surgery Meeting this past weekend. The future is skilled, brilliant, and very female. 💪💉✨
And yes, it’s is also National Carrot 🥕 Cake 🍰 Day, and The Day the Music 🎶 Died.
