One of our favorite activities has been presenting the Disability History Timeline! it is an honor for us because our people fought for so much. We have been placed in asylums and discriminated against but we've held protests and led movements!! And because of that, we, as a country, have changed so much!!!!

People with disabilities often do not receive needed health care!

Half of disabled people cannot afford health care, compared to a third of non-disabled people. People with disabilities are more than twice as likely to find health-care providers' skills inadequate. Disabled people are four times more likely to report being treated badly and nearly three times more likely to be denied health care.

Sometimes it can be legal for a company to refuse someone a job because of a disability. But, if your disability won't affect your performance, you deserve a fair shot- and employers aren't allowed to turn you down JUST because of your disability.
