Dancing into 2026✨
I just taught my last class of the year. 2026 will be my 25 year anniversary of teaching and sharing the joys of yoga!
In class I shared my favorite poem (The Guest House by Rumi❤️ in comments) and a reflection inspired by Rumi’s poem..
I had to write it down to stay composed- I had some of my highest highs and lowest lows this year. I learn from all of it🙏🏽
As I close this year and step into my 25th year of teaching yoga, I’m aware that practice has never been something I do… it is something I return to.
Again and again, the mat is a sacred doorway where I lay down who I think I’m supposed to be and remember who I am.
When I returned to graduate school three years ago in my late 40s to study clinical counseling (after completing my undergrad last century) doubt arose, as it often does, but yoga had already trained me in devotion~ to stay with my breath, to trust the wisdom earned through living, and to remain present and curious when the path feels uncertain.
Then, in my final semester this spring, life invited me into an even deeper sadhana when I received a cancer diagnosis.
The illusion of control fell away, and my body became both altar and teacher. I was asked to practice not from strength, but from surrender, to slow down, to receive help, to listen with compassion.
Yoga reminded me that healing is not about fixing, but about presence. About meeting each moment with an open heart.
As we close this class and this year together, I offer this intention~ may we honor every season of our lives as part of the practice. May we trust that even what arrives uninvited carries wisdom. And may we continue to meet ourselves, each other, and the sacred unfolding of life with reverence, humility, and love~ whispering softly, with each breath: welcome.
I don’t know what 2026 has in store, but I know I will keep coming home to my yoga mat, returning to the beloved practice that reminds me I am a spiritual being having a (brief) human experience.
Namaste and see you on the mat in 2026🫶🏽
