"Pursuing healing through treatment at Monima has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life and I cannot say enough positive things about this treatment center and their staff.

When I arrived at Monima I struggled to know which way was up and who or what I could trust. Ultimately, Monima helped me get in touch with myself, and then with continued support and guidance, I learned how to trust myself. And that changed everything.

Further, after more than a decade of searching for help with PMDD, I found it at Monima. They have a Reproductive Psychiatrist on staff who expertly and compassionately addressed my needs, and worked with me to update my treatment as needed throughout my time at Monima.

As a survivor of both acute and complex trauma I found the whole treatment program effective and genuinely healing. It made all the difference to work with a team who is dedicated to clients receiving the tailored care they need, in an informed, nonjudgmental, and warm environment. My experience was that the staff at Monima live what they teach. Being surrounded and guided by qualified and compassionate providers every day provided a significant part of the healing I encountered throughout my time with the program. They met me every step of the way with acceptance and warmth and that example continues to be an important part of my recovery. "

This Black History Month, we honor the Black women whose courage, wisdom, and resilience continue to shape the way we understand healing and what it means to show up for ourselves and each other.

At Monima, we believe every woman who chooses to begin her healing journey is standing up for herself—and we're honored to provide a safe, inclusive space where all women can find the support they deserve.

Healing happens when we address the whole person—body, mind, and spirit.

Monima Wellness Center is proud to welcome our very own Dr. Anita Lee Davis, D.C., L.Ac., an acupuncturist with over 20 years of clinical experience and a deep background in addiction recovery, for March's Monima Monthly lunch and learn.

Dr. Lee Davis studied Traditional Chinese Medicine at Beijing University of Chinese Medicine and Pharmacology and holds advanced degrees in Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine and Chiropractic. Her approach to healing integrates the physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional—because true recovery requires all of it.

Join us for a meaningful conversation on how acupuncture supports regulation, safety, and the body's natural capacity to stabilize in trauma recovery.

⏰ 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Happy Galentine's Day from Monima Wellness!

Strength, humor, and friendship never go out of style. The artwork in our spaces celebrates the power of connection and serves as a reminder that healing happens in community.

Whether it's the friends who show up for you, the women beside you in group, or the team cheering you on—you were never meant to do this alone.

Feeling like stress is making it hard to show up as the mom you want to be? Here's what we want you to know: it's not you. It's your nervous system

When stress becomes chronic, your brain shifts into survival mode—prioritizing protection over patience, reactivity over connection. That doesn't mean you're failing. It means your system is overloaded.

As Monima clinician Julia Paraiso, ASW, shares, the transition to motherhood is a full transformation—physical, emotional, psychological, and social. And when expectations don't match reality, shame can creep in fast.

You deserve support that meets you where you are. Read the full blog for practical ways to begin caring for yourself while showing up for your family.

The body holds everything—emotion, energy, tension. When you're doing deep trauma work, supporting the nervous system is essential.

Dr. Anita Lee Davis, DC, LAC, our Doctor of Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine, explains how acupuncture and Chinese medicine work to balance the nervous system by supporting the body's qi and blood flow. This helps create the calm, clarity, and grounded presence needed for healing—where responses can begin to come from a centered place.

With over 20 years of experience in acupuncture and a background working in addiction recovery, Dr. Anita Lee Davis brings both clinical expertise and deep understanding of the mind-body connection to Monima's holistic approach. 🤍
