What if I told you that stress is the root of ALL your problems?

People don't realize how impactful stress actually is on your system. When you're stuck in that sympathetic 'fight or flight' state, your body literally doesn't know how to get to a resting state.

This keeps you from digesting food properly, sleeping well, and even affects your ability to reproduce. Everything gets dysregulated.

But here's what we do differently at Arise: we don't try to take away your stressors (because let's be real, life is stressful). Instead, we help you ADAPT to them differently so they don't impact your health.

When your stress response is regulated, everything else follows. Better sleep, balanced hormones, more joy, feeling safe in your own body again.

Thinking about HRT? Or ready to get off it? There's another way.

Acupuncture and Chinese medicine can be incredible support during perimenopause - but we're not just replacing hormones to mask symptoms.

We're helping your body ADAPT naturally to the changes every woman goes through. So instead of fighting the transition, your body learns to embrace it without the uncomfortable symptoms.

The goal isn't to stop the natural process - it's to support your body through it so you can be symptom-free and feel amazing in this new phase of life.

Because perimenopause doesn't have to be something you just 'survive' đź’Ş

Tiny but mighty.

These needles might look delicate…
but what they do in the body is anything but small.

One of the first things I hear from patients is:
“Wait… that didn’t hurt at all.”

Acupuncture needles are incredibly thin — nothing like what you’d experience at a doctor’s office. Most people feel little to nothing, or a subtle sensation like warmth, heaviness, or a gentle wave moving through the area.

And once they’re in, your body starts responding almost immediately.

They help signal the nervous system to shift out of stress mode and into a more regulated, restorative state.

They increase circulation to areas that feel stuck or tense.
They reduce inflammation, relax muscles, and support the body’s natural healing processes.

It’s not about forcing change —
it’s about creating the conditions where your body can do what it’s designed to do.

Restore. Repair. Rebalance.

Tiny needles…
but a powerful reminder of how responsive and intelligent your body really is ✨

It can show up as jaw pain or clicking, headaches, neck and shoulder tension, teeth grinding, or even a feeling of fullness in the ears…
but more often, it’s a reflection of how much your body has been holding.

In Chinese medicine, we see this as a pattern of tension in the nervous system — when the body stays in a stress response for too long, muscles tighten, circulation becomes restricted, and certain areas (like the jaw) start to take on that load.

I see this all the time:
clenching, tight shoulders, shallow breathing… and a jaw that just won’t let go.

Acupuncture works by helping the body shift out of that constant “holding pattern.”

• calming the nervous system
• releasing tension in the jaw, face, and neck
• improving circulation to reduce inflammation
• supporting underlying patterns like stress, digestion, and hormones

This is why we don’t just treat the jaw —
we treat the whole system so your body can actually relax.

Not by forcing it…
but by giving it the conditions where it finally can.

And when that happens, the jaw is often one of the first places to soften ✨

If you’ve been dealing with TMJ, headaches, or chronic tension,
your body might be asking for a different kind of support.

Low iron or feeling depleted?

In Chinese medicine we talk about this as Blood deficiency. One of the most powerful ways to rebuild Blood is through deeply nourishing foods. They can help your body recover after stress, heavy cycles, illness, or burnout.

✨ Your body knows how to rebuild — sometimes it just needs the right nourishment. Heres a short list. Click save to come back to this post later!

Animal Proteins (most tonifying):
These are considered the most direct Blood tonics.
• grass-fed beef, liver (especially chicken or beef liver), eggs, bone broth, chicken, sardines

Blood-Nourishing Plant Foods:
• beets, dark leafy greens (spinach, chard, kale), carrots, sweet potatoes, black beans, lentils

Traditional Chinese Blood Tonics:
• red dates (jujube), goji berries, black sesame seeds, mulberries, longan fruit

Helpful Blood-Supporting Foods:
These help support digestion and nutrient absorption, which is important for making Blood.
• ginger, oats, millet, pumpkin, squash

In Chinese medicine we also emphasize how food is prepared when someone is depleted.
Foods that help rebuild Blood are often best when they are:
• warm, cooked, slow-simmered, easy to digest

We often think of stress as something that lives in the mind.

But the body keeps the score.

In Chinese medicine, stress is not just emotional — it affects how energy moves through the body. When that movement becomes stuck, we start to see symptoms appear in different systems.

Sometimes it looks like:

• trouble falling or staying asleep
• digestive changes or bloating
• headaches or neck tension
• cycle irregularities or hormonal shifts
• feeling tired but unable to fully relax

Over time, the body starts speaking in symptoms when it hasn’t been able to release what it’s been holding.

One of the things I appreciate most about acupuncture is that it gives the body space to regulate again.

Not by forcing anything…
but by reminding the nervous system how to settle.

Healing often begins when the body finally feels safe enough to let go.

If you’re dealing with IBS, IBD, or constipation—
Your body is not broken.

In TCM, digestion heals through safety and consistency, not insanity.

Warm foods. Regular meals. Less rushing.

Subtle shifts create lasting change.

Travel expands us— but it also disrupts rhythm.
In Chinese medicine, the Earth element governs digestion, grounding and routine.
When we move fast, change time zones, eat differently or overstimulate the nervous system, Earth feels it first.

That post travel fog isn’t weakness.
It’s information.

Sometimes the work after travel isn’t doing more —it’s letting yourself land.

In Chinese medicine, menopause isn’t a medical problem—
it’s a transition of power.

Energy that once went outward begins to come home.
What’s untrue becomes intolerable.
Wisdom sharpens.

This phase isn’t about loss.
It’s about reclamation.
