Seeling Sanctuary hosted part one of a five part workshop series for the first time! The focus of this series is addiction. The 12 Steps of Recovery Through the Healing Arts. The workshop series is designed to help people go inward a little more and interpret addiction and recovery from the both sides of their brain and integrate it into the neural network as a whole. This allows the subconscious to heal by allowing it to float to the surface so the conscious mind can begin to heal it. With permission, here is some of the artwork produced by the group.

For woman you who struggle with letting other people's opinions get you down, put on your bracelets and be yourself!

There is a simple method I teach my clients, to change their state, set internal boundaries and boost confidence. It is called Power Posing and I take it a little further. If your superhero is Wonder Woman, you might use the bracelets to deflect any statements that cause you harm, such as criticisms that you might take too seriously and reduce your self-esteem. Or you might act like you are on the Millineum Falcon and put up your force field like Chewy. The possibilities are endless and it does help to reduce depression, anxiety and increase self-esteem.

For more information on power poses see Amy Cuddy in her Ted Talk.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, by Marsha Linehan, has a lot of tools available online to help you. These are adapted and shared to be used for some self-help. Times are tough right now. It is hard to find a therapist who is available. I am receiving 10 referrals a day, many of which I can't answer. It is heartbreaking. I was talking to my best friend this morning and she inspired me to do something helpful. I will post a helpful online tool at least once per week for you to review and, if you would like, comment and share your thoughts. I am setting these up as links since these are in .pdf format. Please let me know if the links are working or not. DBT can help you with behavior changes, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, self-soothing and mindfulness. First, I'd like you to identify what you would like to work on.
