There’s something about rhythm that reaches beyond words.

Not just something you hear—but something you feel.

In this space, taiko becomes more than sound.

It becomes a way to return to the body, to notice, to soften, to reconnect.

I’m always moved by what participants share after— not about “learning a skill,” but about what shifted within.

If this resonates with you, I’d love to invite you to the next gathering.

🗓 Saturday, 4/4
🕒 3:00–5:00 PM
📍 San Diego (near airport)
👥 Limited to 12 participants

This workshop is rooted in Japanese taiko and mindfulness practice, and open to anyone who wishes to engage with care and respect.

Feel free to reach out with any questions.

3.2.26 Mindful Taiko Hour at the CAAPLE Conference

Last week, I had the honor of facilitating a Mindful Taiko Hour for Asian & Pasifika educators and leaders at the annual conference hosted by the California Association of Asian & Pasifika Leaders in Education (CAAPLE).

One participant shared something with me before she left that I will never forget:

"I felt like I was back in my mother’s womb again."

Moments like this are why I love offering mind–body workshops like this.

It’s an experiential and immersive way to connect with sound, rhythm, and your own body.

The vibration of the drums helps us feel grounded, while the rhythms also bring energy, joy, and playfulness.

Moving together, feeling the rhythms, and creating music as a group was such a powerful and joyful experience.

Thank you, .mft from , for inviting us and for this beautiful opportunity. ✨

Shoutout to my love, Noel and an awesome music therapist Seika for making the event possible!

💚💚💚

2.28.26 Mindfulness Taiko Workshop 🥁

This workshop focused on intentional breathing, grounding through heartbeat rhythms, and building awareness through sound.

Unlike a typical sound healing session, this experience invites active participation—engaging your body with rhythm and movement so the mind can settle into the present moment.

Sound is not only something we receive.

It’s something we create, feel, and move with.

My favorite part is witnessing participants discover something new within themselves and deepen their insight into their own wellness.

Thank you to everyone who joined this experience. ✨

It was such an honor to lead a Taiko activity for the seniors at Club Kiku.

Through the powerful sound of the Taiko drums, they moved their bodies, engaged their minds, and followed the rhythms with incredible focus and spirit.

I was deeply touched by their enthusiasm and the pure joy shining in their eyes.

Sharing laughter, movement, and cultural connection across generations was truly a precious and meaningful moment.

Thank you, , for the beautiful opportunity to share the joy of Taiko with the Japanese American Nisei community. 💚🥁

🥁 Mindfulness x Taiko Workshop in English - 10.28.25 🥁

This workshop was beyond what I can describe with words.

It was my second time facilitating this mindfulness and taiko experience — but this time, it felt different from when I led it in Japanese.

Honestly, I was anxious.

I wondered how it would be received by non-Japanese participants who might not be familiar with taiko drumming.

I worried about whether people would even be interested in mindfulness.

I set the bar so high for myself that I started doubting if I was qualified to lead something like this.

But I was wrong.

Each participant came with open hearts — curious, grounded, and ready to explore how sound and mindfulness could connect them with themselves and others.

Even if they didn’t know what to expect, they leaned in with courage and presence.

It was such a humbling experience to witness their openness and warmth. 💖

And once again, I was reminded of the power of the drum.

The sound that echoes like our heartbeat.

The vibration that speaks to us, cleanses us, and heals us.

What an honor to hold space for that.

Thank you to everyone who joined on a Tuesday evening. 💚

For those who couldn’t make it this time — stay tuned.🔥

I plan to offer another one before the end of the year!

I had an opportunity to hold my very first Mindfulness x Taiko workshop! 🥁✨

The theme was:
🤝 Connecting with sound
🤝 Connecting with others
🤝 Connecting with yourself

Through the rhythm and vibration of Taiko (Japanese drums), we explored the essence of mindfulness:

💚 Being present in the moment
💚 Accepting things as they are
💚 Acting with intention

It was my first time facilitating, and I was nervous, but seeing each participant experience deep insight and healing in their own unique way truly filled my heart. 💖

Once again, I was reminded of the healing power of Taiko.

A huge thank-you to everyone who joined despite the rainy day. 😊✨

I’m already looking forward to hosting the next one! 🔥

Our English version of this workshop will be held on Tuesday, October 28th — spots are still open!!

🆕 Mindfulness x Taiko Workshop in San Diego 🆕

I'm excited to announce my very first mindfulness workshop! 📢✨

In the past 15 years of playing Taiko (Japanese drumming),

the art form has moved my heart so many times 💓,

led me to meet my life partner 👥,

and reminded me of the beauty of Japanese culture and the pride I carry as a Japanese person living abroad.🌸

In both tough and painful times,

the sound of the drums, and the friends I’ve played alongside - have always healed me.

As I'm in the field of mental health in the last 13 years,

I’ve dreamed of bringing together my love for Taiko and my work in emotional wellness and mental health.

And now, that dream is finally coming to life. 🙌🏻

In this workshop, you’ll experience:

🌬 Mindfulness through breath and sound of drumming
🥁 Activities to connect you with sound, others, and yourself
🌿 Sharing space within a safe Asian community

No Taiko experience is needed—everyone is welcome.

Come discover new insights and a sense of peace through the power of Taiko.

Can't wait to see you there!

🗓 Date & Time: October 28th Tues. at 6:00 PM

🌿✨ What are healing sounds to you? ✨🌿

Recently, I’ve been rediscovering the power of sounds.

Through drumming and sound meditation,
I feel the vibration move through my body -
and it gives me moments of deep healing.

For some, healing sounds are the waves crashing against the shore. 🌊

For others, the rustling of trees, the soft patter of rain, 🌳

or the comforting voice of someone safe. 🗣️

Sounds can regulate our nervous system,

guide our inner self,

remind us to breathe,

and bring us back to the present moment.

💭 What kind of sounds are healing for you?

Comment below. I’d love to know. 🎶💚

✨ Mindfulness Monday ✨

Take a few minutes each day to check in with yourself.

It seems not a big deal but being curious about yourself is a big step towards overall well-being. 💫

Try asking these three questions tonight before bed or first thing in the morning.

You might be surprised by what comes up. 💚

Shame is sneaky. 😑

It can sound like…

• “I’m not enough.”
• Saying sorry for everything.
• Wanting to disappear when eyes are on you.
• Avoiding help because you “don’t deserve it.”

If this feels familiar pause.

💡 These aren’t flaws. They’re signals you need care.

🌱 When you are met with the shame, try this:

💚 Talk to yourself like you would a friend
💚 Breathe and ground when shame shows up
💚 Explore your physical sensations associated with the shame, and gently massage the area
💚 Practice asking for small help
💚 Spend time with people who truly see you

You’re not your shame.

You’re still worthy.

Always. ✨

Do you ever feel heavy, anxious, or like you're constantly carrying invisible pressure, but can't explain why?

You might be experiencing collective stress: a form of stress that comes from shared experiences within communities, especially in immigrant, BIPOC, and marginalized groups.

For many immigrants, collective stress doesn’t just come from adapting to a new culture. It can be generational.

✨ Your nervous system may be responding to things your body remembers… even if your mind doesn’t.

In this post, we explore:
🔹 What collective stress is
🔹 Why so many immigrants experience it without realizing
🔹 How it shows up in everyday life
🔹 Ways to begin healing, including culturally aligned support

🌿 Healing begins with awareness, curiosity, and community.
