From stomachaches to restless nights, these signals may be your child's way of expressing anxiety. It's crucial to recognize and support them through these challenges. šŸ¤—

🌈 **Stomachaches:** Nervous tummy? It could be anxiety knocking.

šŸ’†ā€ā™‚ļø **Muscle Tension:** Watch for stiffness, especially in neck, shoulders, or jaw.

😓 **Sleep Disturbances:** Anxiety can cast shadows on peaceful nights.

šŸ½ļø **Changes in Appetite:** Overeating or undereating may signal underlying stress.

šŸ˜“ **Irritability:** Anxious minds may express through heightened sensitivity.

ā° **Restlessness:** Fidgeting or the inability to sit still—tell-tale signs.

šŸ—“ļø Next month, join me for the 'Parenting Anxious Kids' workshop—empowering parents with tools and insights.

I’m often asked, What is anxiety?

& I like to respond with this analogy: imagine anxiety being an internal smoke alarm. When a fire breaks out in the kitchen, the smoke alarm is going to go off as a signal to protect us from danger. Sometimes a smoke alarm can be sensitive, and the alarm can go off even if there’s only burnt toast in the kitchen. Whether there’s real danger (fire) or no real danger (burnt toast), the fire alarm goes off.

If your child is struggling with anxiety and its beginning to interfere with their daily life, maybe their internal smoke alarm is a little too sensitive.

I’m hosting a ā€œParenting Anxious Kidsā€ workshop next month to help parents understand their child’s anxiety. There IS hope for you and your child, and I’m excited to offer you some extra support next month.

December 14th, 7pm PST, via Zoom, early bird pricing is $25! Link in bio to register. :)

Thursday, December 14, from 7 pm-8:30 pm PST, I'll be hosting a live session titled "Parenting Anxious Kidsā€

Anxiety can show up in SO many ways in kids, which can make parenting an anxious child feel overwhelming and defeating.

As someone who grew up with severe anxiety as a kid, being able to empower parents with the skills and techniques they need is incredibly important to me.

In this workshop, we’ll talk about an actual definition of anxiety, what’s normal vs. a disorder, practical techniques used to respond to your child’s concerns, as well as a special segment just for the holiday season.

Right now, I’m offering Early Bird Pricing of just $25! The price will increase to $40 on December 10, so don’t wait to buy your tickets!

P.S. if you’re still reading, kudos to you! I’d love to offer you a $5 off discount code. Simply email ā€œkaitlyn@cultivatesandiego.comā€ with the subject line ā€œSubscribe me!ā€ I’ll get you subscribed to my email list and send the promo code your way!

Helping you connect with your child is one of my most favorite things to do in life! šŸ’œ

Here are some of the more common concerns I help families navigate:

-Childhood and adolescent anxiety + navigating the effects this may have on the family

-Enhancing communication between parents and children after a significant life change or disruption in the relationship

-Supporting children through the unique mix of emotions when parents have divorced or separated

-Anger management

-Childhood and adolescent depression

-Early childhood guidance for parents with young children + learning to understand/respond to their child’s emotions

-Managing ADHD + supporting both the parents and children in managing symptoms

-In addition to working with families, I enjoy working with adults who are navigating the complexities of life while working through their own childhood trauma
