Hi y’all, Kendall here! As therapists, we often encourage people to hold onto the bigger picture and push through tough moments. And this weekend was a powerful reminder of what that really looks like in community.
The Susan G. Komen 3-Day brought together an incredible group of people committed to one mission: finding a cure for breast cancer. Sixty miles over three days is no small task, and this year came with its own plot twist…a full day of walking through rain, puddles, and heavy winds. Yet the energy never wavered. Folks showed up for one another with “dry” humor, compassion, snacks, encouragement , and so much heart.
This was the 6th time this community has welcomed me in, and every time I’m reminded that the strength we draw from each other is unmatched. The stories shared, of survival, loss, love, and legacy. That is what carried us up the hills and through the storms. We walked in honor of families, friends, and fighters whose names and memories kept us moving.
And none of it happens alone. Donations, messages of encouragement, letters, and cheering along the route all played a part in pushing this mission forward. A weekend reminder of how individual strength and community support allows us to do the hard things.
WE did this — together. 💗
