Time has been moving extra fast for me this Vata season. It’s almost a year of doing my MBA, busy work season, and I’ve definitely fallen off my typical physical and mental health routine. Booo 👎

My heart has been calling me to build up my relationship with Ayurveda again. Not only does it connect me back to my body, but strengthens my spirituality and faith.

Here’s an intro on Ayurveda. This world means a lot to me and I hold it with a lot of care.

I hope to break down the deep concepts for you to get a feel for how cool this stuff is and maybe one day you’ll fall down the rabbit hole like me. ❤️

Again, Ayurveda is always there for you, no matter how or when you show up.

Unapologetically in denial that summer is over 👎

But girl… it’s November. 🫠

One of the blessing of living in San Diego is that the summer heat sticks around a bit longer than what I’m used to. But hitting November means the heat is officially gone. 😢

A few peices to close the season and acknowledge that vata season is here…

The three doshas govern each season: pitta = summer, kapha = winter and spring, and vata = fall.

Fall lovers typically say they love the cool air, being cozy at home, and eating warm foods. 🍁

All things to help balance this vata energy… and you’ve been doing it without even realizing it!

Fall is actually the time to slow down, but society actually makes us pick up the speed.

It’s the back to school season, big holiday sales push, end of year financial reorting, and all of this running around can deplete our energy. (exhibit A: flu season…)

Rest looks different for everyone. The key (always in Ayurveda) is balance.

A balanced exercise routine, strategic rest (hot baths, meditation) and vata reducing practices will get you through this. 🫶🏼

Vata embodies all things cold, sharp, fast, light, dry, etc. These qualities are found in our food, the environment, and overall vibes. (Exhibit B: capitalistic corporate world 🫡).

What this has been looking like for me: less phone time, more naps, pre-bed meditations. Hbu?

soft launch: 2025
2024 felt like an exploratory phase and a step up into what 2025 will be like.

Wins for 2024 that are setting me up for this year:
🔸becoming more disciplined in my routine - not yet where I want to be. (Much needed for vata-pitta type person 😉)
🔸 Hitting peak strength that I’ve ever experienced in my life (mentally and physically)
🔸 Going to the beach or being in the water 3 to 4 times a week (lately 1-2 right now.. :/)
🔸 Stuck with journaling
🔸 Cut back on my caffeine usage and using DIY vata-reducing herbs and supplements as “coffee creamer”
🔸 Managing my time and energy (not 100% yet) better to hit my goals
🔸 Started my yoga teaching sabbatical to pursue nutrition education with UC San Diego
🔸 LOTS of travel (an ppl traveling to us 🥰)
🔸 Celebrating friends and loved ones going through huge changes
🔸 Prepared for and started a new educational journey (more on that later 😉)
🔸 the best thing about 2024 = marrying my soulmate and best friend 🥰

2025 is asking for more discipline, gratitude, community, love, and patience.

Always trying to hit my goals while having fun (aka enjoying the process). Wish me luck! 🫡

Happy Birthday, Cynthia!!

I’m so grateful for our years of friendship in and out of the office 🫡

Cynthia is one of those friends who always has your back 👏 she’s inspirational to me and keeps me pushing forward to be a smart nerd, a cool metal head, a hard worker, and someone who stands up for what they believe in. All with a “bit” of sarcastic humor 😉

The more I sit with this series the more lessons I learn from it.

It’s been an interesting blend of government, religion, and spirituality within the uncertainty of human nature.

I found a rock today with ‘Mark 8:36’ written on it at the beach: “For what will you profit, if you gain the whole world and lose your own soul?”

Here, I find a broad lesson in following a path from the center of your values, whether it be religious or spiritual.

My vote is for us to have a set of values that generate from love and kindness.

On June 22, 2024, I became Mrs. Castello!

Our wedding day was beyond magical. Think fairytale meets Bridgerton with romantic Michigan vibes. 🥹

What made this day even more special was celebrating with our loved ones 💕
