Not sure exactly why but oils and serums sometimes can get mixed into the same category. Maybe it’s the dropper that can cause confusion but the two are very different.
On a higher level serums tend to have more of a watery consistency and are formulated with a higher concentration of active ingredients because this allows the product to pe*****te deep below the surface of the skin. Serums are ideal for targeting concerns from acne to aging.
Oils on the other hand are not formulated with water and are thicker in consistency, helping the skin keep smooth and nourished. Oils can be considered replacements or additives to your moisturizers (depending on your skin needs).
