Kegels are not for everyone! They just happen to be the only thing that most doctors know about regarding pelvic floor therapy, so they often blindly tell patients to “just do kegels”.

I actually do not have any of my patients do kegels (even if they are a good candidate), because they just aren’t worth your time. Working on glute, hip, and core strength tends to be much more effective.

Tip Tuesday for Bladder Health Awareness month!

Stop peeing “just in case”!

Peeing when you don’t actually need to is both teaching your bladder a bad habit, and weakening your pelvic floor muscles over time.

Tip Tuesday! Let’s talk about pelvic organ prolapse.

Some common causes of pelvic organ prolapse are:
✨chronic cough
✨constipation (straining)
✨poor lifting mechanics
✨pregnancy
✨vaginal delivery

Pelvic organ prolapse is when any of your pelvic organs descend lower than they are meant to be and cause pressure or a feeling of heaviness in the lower pelvic region (think tampon being partially out of place).

Pelvic PT can help you manage intra abdominal pressure and strengthen your pelvic floor muscles in order to reduce prolapse.

DM “prolapse” if you are experiencing these symptoms and would like to start your healing journey today

Your posture is affecting your pelvic floor more than you think! 🤯
Watch this transformation ⬆️

Bad Posture:
* Slouched shoulders
* Forward head position
* Rounded back
* Puts extra pressure on your pelvic floor
* Makes breathing less efficient

Good Posture:
* Shoulders back and down
* Head aligned over shoulders
* Neutral spine
* Allows pelvic floor to function properly
* Supports better breathing patterns

Here’s the thing: most of us spend HOURS in that first position every day (desk jobs and phone scrolling)
But small changes make a BIG difference. Start checking in with your posture throughout the day - your pelvic floor will thank you! 🩵
Try this: Set 3 phone reminders today to check your posture. Notice the difference in how you feel!

Tip Tuesday! Let’s talk about perimenopause and how it affects the pelvic floor.

During perimenopause estrogen levels drop significantly. Estrogen is made in the ovaries and helps to keep the pelvic floor muscles plump, strong, and working well. When estrogen levels drop, the pelvic floor muscles begin to atrophy and get thinner. This can cause pelvic floor weakness, urinary leaking, vaginal dryness leading to pain with $ex, and pelvic organ prolapse.

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, feel free to send me a message!

Today’s Tip Tuesday is all about the jaw to pelvic floor connection. If you are someone that tends to clench your jaw throughout the day, or if you notice your jaw is sore when you wake up in the morning, there is a good chance your pelvic floor is constantly clenching as well. This can lead to leaking with exercise, pain with intimacy, or constipation.

Send me a message if this is something you’re experiencing!

Let’s get to know your pelvic floor
A common question I hear is “WHERE exactly is my pelvic floor?”

Great question! Your pelvic floor is a group of muscles that form a supportive hammock at the bottom of your pelvis. Think of it as your body’s foundation - it’s holding up your bladder, uterus, and re**um.

What your pelvic floor does:
✨ Supports your pelvic organs
✨ Helps control bladder and bowel function
✨ Plays a role in sexual function
✨ Works with your core for stability

Here’s the thing: Most women have NO idea where these muscles are or how they work until something goes wrong. But understanding your anatomy is the first step to taking control of your pelvic health.

In my practice, I love using hands-on education because seeing and understanding your body makes all the difference in your healing journey.

This is exactly what we do in your first visit - no guessing, just clear education about your body.
