It’s easy to think of the things we DON’T want to bring into our 2021:
Self-doubt
Fear of the future
People pleasing
Negative thinking
But in order to plan on how to better ourselves, it’s far more important to focus on what we do want! Start your 2021 out with gratitude for the growth you’ve made this past year no matter how big or small and accept that although you have no control over how 2020 went for you that you have complete control over your mindset for 2021.

The start of a new year also brings the tradition of setting expectations of change and growth for ourselves. It can be especially challenging to yearn for change when we feel stuck. Change sounds, looks, and feels different for everyone; be kind to yourself and accept that your own journey is unique to you as well. Accept change with open arms but don’t force it into your life. You deserve to enjoy your own journey, be kind to yourself, and have a Happy New Year filled with kindness, joy, and positive change.

Let’s be real… self-care can feel HARD. Sometimes saying goodbye to self-destructive habits also means saying goodbye to habits of comfort. It’s okay to struggle and even miss the comfort in our old habits but it’s critical to acknowledge the positive change you’ve made and the new comfort you would have never found without committing to a change. You are capable of achieving your goals, don’t let self-doubt push you to believe otherwise.

It’s hard to accept that we didn’t always know what was right or wrong and still struggle with knowing what’s best for us. It’s helpful to reflect on what you now know to acknowledge the growth you have made through your struggles. What have you learned recently that you wish you had known sooner?

Monday reminders! It’s easy to fall into the habits of being a ‘good person’. However, being a good person does not mean reducing yourself in order to make room for someone else. You can be bold, proud, and successful all while being a kind, considerate, compassionate person. Treat yourself with the same kindness and respect you put out into the worldーyou deserve it.

Weak boundaries can sound or look like:

Pretending to agree with something
Hiding your true feelings
Going along with something you’re not comfortable with
Not stating your preferences
Neglecting your own needs for benefit of others
Doing too much for others

Setting boundaries is important for you to honor your true self. It begins by recognizing that a boundary has been crossed, then communicating clearly and firmly that it should not be crossed.

People tend to be reactive by nature, don’t let someone’s defensiveness prevent you from protecting your own needs regardless of how big or small.

Our feelings have no limits, they can co-exist, and that is because people aren’t linear beings. We are fluid and ever-changing. Embrace yourself and others for all of our humanity.

Welcome to that middle of the week hump. This is the fourth and final part of my mini-series revolving around reducing parenting stress during the pandemic. This week is all about reflection! Taking the time to breathe during our endlessly hectic days gives us time to focus on what REALLY matters. Whatever that may be in your life, I challenge you to make one of your priorities kindness. Whether it’s giving yourself some love or showering your favorite people with it, one thing is certain; we’re all in need of a little extra TLC during these times.
Let me know if you enjoyed this four-part parenting series and which part was your favorite! Leave a comment of your pandemic parenting tips; we could all use extra tools in our parenting knowledge toolkit!

It’s Monday... sometimes starting the week feels harder than usual. Let’s start this week off by cutting off our self-destructive habits. The SOS technique allows you to essentially stop, drop, and roll away from the consuming fire that is negativity. Utilize this technique today and let me know how you feel at the end of the day. Let’s beat those Monday blues!
