Everyday is International Women’s Day at our studio! Revision is a woman-owned and operated practice since 2017, with our Creative Arts Program opening a year later. Let’s celebrate our dynamic team of ladies (plus Chad!) that make up the leaders and Mentors that keep this non-profit operation a special place to be. No matter our love languages, words of affirmation go a long way.

Best Practice is very excited to present A Unifying Force: The Art of Revision San Diego. This exhibition highlights the work of Revision San Diego, a nonprofit organization that provides inclusive access to art, culture, and environmental education for artists with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Best Practice’s presentation brings together some of Revision’s most dedicated artists, whose work often prizes material re-use and sustainability. Titled after Revision Founder and Director Joy Boe’s comment that art is a “unifying force,” the exhibition reveals the aesthetic dynamism, creative innovation, and contemporary relevance of the work being made at Revision.

Artists in the exhibition include Alex Acosta, Charlie Allbritton, Delano Carter, Sean Chambers, Xavier Dionne, Katie Flores, Alex Katzenson, Alex Nichols, Joe Thurston, Deanna Tran, Charlotte Voitzwinkler, and Kelsey Wilson.

This exhibition is curated by Elizabeth Rooklidge.

February has been a sweet month. We held a special “self-love + identity” weaving workshop with folks from Promises2Kids, reframing Valentines with topics of conversation such as: “What does love look like for you today—not the ideal version, but the real one?” / “How do you show love to others in ways that feel authentic, not performative?” / “What threads are you intentionally adding or removing from your life this year?”

Revision is built on the belief that everyone, and everything has purpose. Our mission is to provide inclusive access to art, culture, and environmental education. We literally invented this non-profit to be able to provide equitable opportunities to marginalized communities through advocacy, both within our shared studio spaces, in our neighborhoods, and beyond. We stand by and practice our initiative today, and everyday, even when we aren’t loudly advertising it. But just so it’s clearly announced, you are always safe with us.
