Join us in congratulating Lt. Megan Walsh. Not only making Navy Medicine proud, but also making the entire U.S. Navy proud! Lt. Walsh!

WASHINGTON, D.C., UNITED STATES - Lt. Megan Walsh, a psychiatry resident at Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command (NMRTC) San Diego, led the Navy Women’s Marathon team to its second consecutive victory at the Armed Forces National Marathon Championships held in Washington D.C., Oct. 23-27. Walsh, a second-year resident, served as team captain for the All-Navy Marathon Team.

This was not the first time Walsh, a native of Southborough, Massachusetts, represented the Navy at what was also the 50th Marine Corps Marathon. At last year’s individual competition Walsh took the gold. This year Walsh takes the bronze at what was a podium dominated by Navy women winners.

Walsh's leadership and athletic prowess propelled the team to victory against fierce competition from other branches of the U.S. military. Her achievement highlights the dedication and well-rounded nature of Navy Medicine professionals.

Directorates and departments across have been conducting uniform inspections for the shift from summer whites to Dress Blues. The Navy's Dress Blue uniform, a timeless symbol of maritime tradition, evokes centuries of service and sacrifice, connecting today's sailors to the heroic legacies of John Paul Jones and beyond.

The seasonal shift from summer whites to Dress Blues, often coinciding with the transition to cooler weather, is more than just a change of attire; it’s a ceremonial acknowledgment of the changing seasons and a visual reminder of the Navy’s enduring presence throughout the year. These iconic uniforms, alongside meticulously conducted uniform inspections, are vital to maintaining the discipline, pride, and professionalism that are the hallmarks of the United States Navy, reinforcing the high standards and unwavering commitment to excellence that define the men and women who stand ready to defend our nation and its interests.

Donating to NMCSD

Per governing federal ethics regulations, Military members and civilian employees of Naval Medical Center San Diego(NMCSD) are prohibited by federal law from soliciting gifts. The privilege we have been given to serve our patients and their families is reward enough.

However, we understand that the American Public, the San Diego community in particular, often desires to give back to our Sailors, Marines, their families and our medical professionals who care for them. Due to this outpouring of generosity and support for our service members and NMCSD, we have received legal authority to accept unsolicited gifts intended to further our mission.

This information is not provided to solicit gifts but simply to inform you of the means by which individuals, organizations, and businesses can give cash, goods, or services to benefit NMCSD, its patients, its staff, and their families.

The process is as simple as a written offer explaining the gift, its value, any cost to the Navy, and any conditions you wish to include.
