I am writing to you to ask that you withdraw the proposals from the Ad Hoc committee on FC and RPM. The members of this committee have a longstanding public record of trying to discredit the use of FC, RPM and other forms of typing or spelling as a form of communication. A review of their articles,....

This.

Omg what a day! One of the people who helped merge all the old autism subtypes into one giant ā€œspectrumā€ is now saying out loud that it’s too broad and kids like mine get erased in it?

Hearing Dr. Cathy Lord on The Daily today felt like a plot twist.

Yeah. That’s big.

This isn’t a random TikTok self-advocate.
This is someone who helped build the system and even she’s saying we need to rethink it.

Because let’s be honest…When ā€œautismā€ covers everyone from non-speaking kids who need 24/7 care to adults writing think-pieces about masking… something’s broken. Not the people, the system.

Kids like Charlie shouldn’t disappear because the spectrum got stretched so far that profound autism feels like it doesn’t belong.

So yeah, hearing Cathy Lord call it out on a national platform should be a wake-up call.

The spectrum needs nuance.
Profound autism needs recognition.

Sometimes, the most powerful moves happen when we slow down. As I prepare for this next chapter, I’m taking time to be present… soaking up the sunrise, answering emails a little slower, and holding space for what’s coming in 2026 ✨ Thank you for your continued support and understanding!

Gregory is an autistic advocate and children’s book author whose words inspire deeper understanding of the brain and body disconnect, connection, and advocacy. His voice reminds us of the power of presuming competence and celebrating authentic communication in all its forms.

Brief listener/reader advisory from Danny: I want to use this episode to delve into some questions.

"I am scared for our society and the way that we are currently celebrating autism. For some of you reading, that last sentence might have struck a nerve, but please hear me out. Autism, in some cases, is much more than what you see in popular culture from tv shows like ā€œLove on the Spectrumā€ or ā€œThe Good doctorā€. I am talking to you about what is commonly referred to as severe autism or profound autism."

"The saying should not be that autism is a superpower. Instead, we should say that people who live through each day, despite having the most distressing and most debilitating symptoms of autism, are super humans. We are fighters in every sense of the word, but if there are things we can do to make the battle easier, we would be remiss not to try. All soldiers have weapons. I encourage you to load up your arsenals with knowledge about root causes and prevention measures, so this is a battle we can fight and win together."

Another impactful and thoughtfully written post by Vincent!

I am someone who not only is impacted by autism and apraxia, but I am also the lucky recipient of a host of other complex diagnoses. I know that autism in itself can be incredibly fickle to underst…
