Easter: Piercing the Darkness with Creative Joy
Brothers at CatholicDadsHQ,
As we celebrate the Resurrection today, I’ve been reflecting on the specific call we have as fathers to lead our domestic churches out of the "tombs" of daily struggle and into the light of the Risen Christ.
I wanted to share a piece of art that perfectly captures this mission: Noël Coypel’s Resurrection of Christ (ca. 1700). Take a look at the contrast in this masterpiece. You have the chaos and confusion of the world below—the soldiers in shadow, the heavy weight of the stone, and the darkness of the tomb. But cutting through it all is a radiant, unstoppable light.
The Father’s Call to Creative Joy
There is a creative joy placed within each of us by the Holy Spirit. As Catholic dads, we often face heavy "stones"—financial stress, health trials, or the spiritual weight of leading our families in a confusing world.
Coypel’s painting reminds us that this creative joy isn’t just a feeling; it is a divine force. When we lean into our faith, that joy pierces the challenges of life to bring forth God’s divine healing. Just as Christ shattered the silence of the grave, our hope in Him can shatter the gloom in our homes and the anxieties in our hearts.
A Blessing for Your Family
Today, I pray that you embrace your role as the light-bearer for your wife and children. May the victory of the empty tomb give you the strength to lead with courage, the grace to heal through love, and a lifetime of Easter joy.
Let’s venture out today not just to celebrate the Resurrection, but to live it.
He is Risen indeed!
Peace and blessings,
E.C.L.D
