Congratulations, ENS Thao Janet Nguyen - Navy's latest recipient of the Dental Corps, Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP).

"I am excited to start my journey in the USN as part of their Dental Corps post dental school! I was first exposed to the military culture when I was in NJROTC during high school. It was one of the best experiences of my life. I grew so much as a person, student, and leader! I cannot wait to continue to challenge myself and truly embody the Navyโ€™s core values of honor, courage, and commitment as a Navy Officer and Dentist! Thereโ€™s no better way to give back than to serve a community so deeply rooted in service.โ€

Welcome Navy Medicine's newest recipient of the Medical Corps Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP): ENS Shane Davis. He will be attending WesternU, class of 2025!

"My name is Shane Davis and I am from Huntington Beach, California. I played a bunch of sports in high school, and had some injuries that ended in surgery. This is how I found my interest in the medical field. I wanted to go to medical school, but financially it seemed unrealistic, until my grandfather (an Air Force veteran) convinced me to look into the Military. With HPSP I can now accomplish my goals as well as serve my country. I chose to join the Navy because I have always enjoyed living near the ocean. I plan to one day become an anesthesiologist for the Navy."

Well done, Sir, and congratulations! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

Medical Corps HPSP Applicant

โ€œI chose to pursue a career as a Navy physician for several reasons. Firstly, the chance to serve the greatest country in the world, one thatโ€™s afforded me the opportunity to pursue my boyhood dream of becoming a physician, was a prospect I couldnโ€™t pass up. Next, Iโ€™m eager to serve a patient population consisting of our nationโ€™s heroes, individuals who sacrifice everything for American ideals: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Finally, I chose to pursue a career as a Navy physician because of a heartโ€™s calling to something greater than myself.โ€

Congratulations on your selection into the Dental Corps HPSP Program, Sir! Welcome aboard!

โ€œI come from a family of soldiers, sailors, and airmen and always have felt a calling to serve my country, yet I have never had an opportunity to fulfill this desire until now. I first realized a path towards the Health Professions Scholarship Program and a career in the Navy as a civilian volunteer aboard the USNS Comfort Hospital Ship during the Enduring Promise 2018 humanitarian mission to South America. I cannot be more proud to be accepted into the HPSP, which has allowed me to fulfill my dream while practicing the profession of dentistry that I have grown to love.โ€ -
