Mount Margaret: an easy 8 1/2 for our first time in Red Feather lakes. My foot is on the mend but still slightly sore toward the end of the stroll. It does feel great the following day. Onward and upward!

First easy hike since 5th Metatarsal fracture 6/4. The foot feels good, slightly sore on the way down on rocks and varied pace walking with the dog. We made a rookie Colorado mistake, slept in and attempted a popular trial on the weekend. But this spot was beautiful and Knotted Root has the best Hazy IPAs.

We all get injured on occasion. I tend to be luckier than most. I think my training builds capacity and strength helping make me more resilient. This time a weird situation got the best of me. All Physical Therapists should be the patient sometimes. It helps us reconceptualize care. Most importantly the thoughts and emotions that people go through when pain or injury changes their life. We show compassion, reassure how and when the body will heal and build a trusting relationship. The communication with our patients when they are in this state is just as important as what we do to/with them. We all get this reminder from time to time. This happens to be a quite sh*tty time.
