PALM OIL
This is something that I have been against since the mid 90’s when I was in school studying nutrition. As a nutritionist and a Holistic Health Practitioner it’s getting harder and harder to buy and consume healthy food anymore. Mostly I prepare as much of the food we eat but my beloved peanut butter has now fallen into the Palm Oil trap! I am so sad and I grieve the loss of this peanut butter that was just peanuts and sea salt to now added sugar and palm oil. So sad to see more and more organic food companies reverting to cheap and unhealthy additives. For your health, the health of the environment, the indigenous people of Malaysia and Indonesia and an end to forced labor, child labor and slavery please stop buying products with Palm Oil

Top Facts You Need to Know for Your Safety

•50 percent of packaged food has Palm oil
•It is a plant replacement for trans and animal fats because it’s low cost
•Palm oil comes from the fruit of the palm plant
•Malaysia and Indonesia are the highest producers of palm oil today
•Found in Ice Cream Sandwiches(everyone I looked at in the frozen section at my local grocery store), oils, cookies, donuts, peanut butter, chocolate, health and beauty products and so much more
•Palm Oil when heated produces a harmful contaminant which can lead to kidney toxicity or cancer
•Leading to deforestation in these areas at an alarming rate -98 percent will be eliminated in the next 8-10 years

Palm Oil provides zero health benefit and actually worse than zero if you consider the harmful effects of digesting these oils. In addition it is destroying the forests in these counties and has a global effect on our climate and humanity.

Science and humanity need to work together for this planet and every living thing on it. Just because we can invent something doesn’t mean we should use it. We need to ask a deeper question is this going to be what humanity needs to live a healthier and more meaningful life, a truly sustainable life? Or is it just for profit and greed?

I’ve Been Hiking, lol no time to post 🐝

Last week’s theme was leaning into trying new things or having positive experiences to re-pattern the brain and strengthen the nervous system as we let go of negative experiences!
The process of healing that gets very little attention. We work on healing, letting go and then comes integration of the mind, body, Spirit and then what comes next?
Tried a new trail, loved it and hated it. Hard to try new things, but I pushed through the discomfort and would definitely do this trail again! Funny how at times we are practically in people’s backyard, can’t believe that this trail got approved but happy it did!

This week went to a sanctuary for animals, they wanted so much love and I am going to email them to see if I can bring my Reiki students there to do Reiki and love on some animals of all kinds. I have been promising them that I would be doing a Reiki training on working with animals 🌟

Today’s Reflection

Grounding…a coming home to yourself, a time to turn inwards and nurture your mind, body and spirit. Hiking for me is one of the best ways to make me feel grounded and nurtured. Nature has a way of making you feel completely at peace

Side note Torrey Pines trails will be closed for the month of Nov, there will still be beach access from the coast if anyone knows of some other trails near La Jolla, let me know. I am up in the area 2x week and would like to try some new trails 🐝

Reflexion:
Back story- in Seattle visiting a very dear friend and doing a Himalayan Sound Bowl Healing Training. The few people I had contact with said that no one says hello or makes eye contact anymore when you are in a store, walking by, etc. I found this so sad and wondering how humanity has lost its way of acknowledging someone and being kind with a smile, a hello….
Hike today I said hello, waived, good morning or just smiled to everyone I passed. 60% acknowledged me, the other 40% looked down, said no response, turned there head away from me…
I had a teacher Mr. Owen in Catholic Catechism classes who said if you smile at someone it will change their whole day and everyone they are in contact with. That lesson he taught me, still stays true today and I will continue…
let’s keep smiling and shinning🥰

Reflection
Change of seasons is a great time to pause and reflect. As we step into Fall, I reflect on my life, myself, growth and changes I have been thru this year so far. I start to slow down to conserve energy for winter.
Reflection can look like many things; what blessings did I receive, what do I want to prioritize for this last quarter of the year? What have I accomplished up to this point, in my work, family, relationships, health?
