Two years ago today I had the honor of helping Meagan and Kirk welcome their second daughter, Dylan, into the world. I’ve attended hundreds of births and they’re all sweet and beautiful in their own right, but some families really stick with you. This is one of those families. I was lucky enough to keep Meg and Kirk as friends after I was their doula for their first daughter, Parker. They’re some of the kindest, funniest, most wonderful people I’ve ever met and I count myself lucky to have been part of their lives over the past 5 years. In the months following Dylan’s birth, Meagan just never felt quite right and in a devastating turn of events she was diagnosed with stage IV cancer when Dylan was 4 months old. In the year and a half that followed, Meagan fought so very hard to beat that cancer. She did every possible treatment, western and otherwise, and changed everything about her life to regain her health. She catalogued her journey for all of us on YouTube and even started a charity aimed at supporting others impacted by cancer (). She was a bright light full of love until the very end. Despite her valiant fight, Meagan passed away on January 4, 2021. My heart aches for all of her family and friends, but especially for Kirk and the girls. A college fund has been set up to help support the girls with schooling when the time comes. I know times are tough for so many people, but if you’re able and feel called to donate you can do so by clicking the link in my bio (or message me and I’ll send it over). We love you, Meagan 💙
