Milestones’ Mommy and Me groups are back! Same great groups with a brand new view 🙌
Hi guys 🙋♀️ it’s been a while since I showed up on the gram but something had to give 😅. Also, not going to lie, everything has changed so much it took me a good couple of minutes to figure out how to create a post 👵🏻
ANYWAY, words can’t express how happy it made me to welcome a full group of 14 mamas + littles on Tuesday. My groups were birthed out of the importance of in-person connection, so we did what we had to do, but it feels SO good to be back!
I also appreciate all the enthusiasm and support I’ve received from all of you! From mamas who googled their way to me to all the Milestone Alums who continue to send so many new mamas my ways 🥰. My August group sold out before I was able to get on here to announce it BUT I scheduled out two more groups in an effort to accommodate!
My September group starts 9/28 and has three more spots! My October group starts 10/26 and has 5 more spots!
Head to sdmommyandme.com (link in bio) to learn more and sang a spot!
P.s. I plan to get back into regularly posting some educational stuff BUT I’m noticing a lot of people have majorly upped their Insta game. Call me boring but I barely have the mental energy to spell check let alone write, produce, and star in a mini movie 🤪 hope you all stick with me anyway 🤗

Confidence in motherhood is a gift that comes with time and A LOT of trial and error. While an ongoing process due to the many changes and stages, I‘ve listed out some of the many intentional actions we can take to support the process.

Knowing what we need and being able to identify how we feel isn’t easy. This is particularly true when we're experiencing new or complex experiences. Add to that, being honest is scary and hard… This again is especially true when the common response to a new mom's truth is "you should treasure these moments. You're going to miss this.”

As the adrenaline rush of the pandemic begins to fade, you may find yourself experiencing more and more hard or uncomfortable feelings. This is normal.
However, seeing as this pandemic doesn’t appear to be a quick event, a lot of us are finding ourselves in crisis limbo. For that reason, I thought it might be helpful to share with you two lesser-known forms of grief.
Challenge yourself to name these emotions as they show up for you. Often, the simple act of doing so can help you move through them more easily. If not, when it comes to ambiguous grief, it can be helpful to take a both/and approach, “I feel lucky my family is home and healthy, and I’m mourning my loss of freedom and independence.”
For anticipatory grief, it can be helpful to balance your perspective and bring yourself back to the present moment. When you feel sickened by all the potential losses, also consider how many people are recovering, rushing in to help, and following health directives. Once you do that, bring your attention to the present moment by doing something as simple as intentionally observing the pure perfection that is your littles’ figures.

As the news evolves, I feel compelled to honor how anxiety-provoking the early stages of a pandemic can be. Please know, feelings of fear, anxiety, sadness, and uncertainty are VERY normal. If needed, here are some important and effective steps you can take to help manage your reaction:
- Pay attention to reliable and trusted sources (limit issue-focused news)
- Focus on the things you can control, like good hygiene habits.
- Stay connected and resist unnecessarily social isolation.
- Practice gratitude for all the good news & things in your life.
- Be mindful of your attitude and reaction towards your community members.
- Lean into and prioritize healthy self-care.
- Don’t just do something because others are, take measures as they are recommended by your local health authorities.
- Seek help from a licensed mental health professional if necessary.
