Today we wear red for women. Women have a higher mortality rate from heart attacks as they often go unnoticed. Symptoms vary from that of men. Be aware that fatigue, nausea, and shortness of breath can be symptoms of heart attacks in women.
We also had a tailgate lunch in preparation for the Super Bowl.

There is a reason science has allowed us to survive healthier and longer. Ignoring these innovations is not risk free.
Pasteurization, vaccinations, and vitamin k are just a few of the things that have saved lives over the years. There’s no reason to go backwards.

It’s National Women Physicians day! Women sacrifice so much to provide the best medical care to their patients. Here’s to all the amazing women physicians in my life. Thank you for everything you do.

Once again I’ve been a little MIA. This time I was south of the border getting some R&R by the beach while listening to music.

I’ll be back in the office tomorrow and once I see what’s going around I’ll be back to making videos offering advice on caring for your kids.

Congrats on making it through January!

Today we honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his commitment to service, equality, and compassion for all. ❤️

In that same spirit of caring for our community, our offices remain open today to continue providing quality care for your children.

Wishing your family a meaningful MLK Day.

The news is filled with violence and scary images. This can cause a lot of stress and anxiety for children. To help them, make sure you understand what they are hearing, reassure them you are keeping them safe, turn off the news, and take care of your own stress and anxiety.

FYI, at CPCMG, we will be hearing to the American Academy of pediatrics vaccine schedule.

Children's Primary Care Medical Group is dedicated to providing high quality evidence-based pediatric medical care. This includes following an evidence-based vaccine schedule in order to protect all children from dangerous infectious diseases. We will be using the American Academy of Pediatrics vaccine schedule and more information on this can be found on our Health Hub:

Once again, the secretary of Health and Human Services has released guidelines that are confusing and contradictory. While there are good points in the new nutrition guidelines, those good points are not new information. Furthermore, the guidelines won’t make Americans healthier if the fresh, whole foods that we’ve always recommended aren’t readily available for many Americans.

Last night I worked an extra shift at the extended care clinic. Colds and ear pain were a common theme. So I thought I’d let you know that the latest evidence tells us that not all ear infections require antibiotics.
Of course this is patient dependent so talk to your pediatrician about treatment options for your child.

Part 2 after fully digesting the new CDC vaccine schedule yesterday. It’s long but it’s important. We need universally recommended vaccines because we are a large country with circumstances that do not mirror other countries. Without universal healthcare, paid maternity leave, or paid sick leave, we can not possibly protect all babies and the general population with gaps in vaccination. When vaccines aren’t universally recommended the unintended consequences can be parents opting out, vaccines no longer required for school entry, vaccines unavailable due to cost or decreased use, and possible changes to insurance coverage. This will lead to outbreaks and disease.
