The Center for Men's Excellence

The Center for Men's Excellence Founded by Dr. Dan Singley, CME psychologists provide evidence-based interventions for men, couples, children and families.

CME therapists work with clients who seek to improve their quality of life, with a particular focus on men, couples, families and children aged 8 and up. Clients take part in scientifically-supported psychotherapy treatments to more effectively manage a variety of issues including anxiety, stress, and depression. By learning to apply well-researched psychological techniques, clients are able to experience considerably higher quality of life and long-lasting relief from their concerns. The Center for Men's Excellence is also home to dad-focused parenting classes called Basic Training for New Dads. In addition to these dads classes, Dr. Singley also provides counseling for new dads and couples interested in keeping their newly-expanding family as strong as it can be even in the midst of adjusting to life with a new baby.

Expectant fathers enjoy an informal, hands-on class that provides practical information and a real boost of confidence about handling the baby's impending arrival.

Participants connect with other expectant dads, and also have the opportunity to talk with a “veteran dad” who has been through the class and brings his infant with him to the class. Dads-to-be get to hear directly from the new dad about his experience and practice diapering, swaddling, soothing, and burping the baby.

February is a time for connection and love, but meaningful partnership requires more than chemistry. Therapy offers men a space to grow emotionally, address stress, and build healthier connections with themselves and the people they care about most.

Self-care looks different for everyone.

For some men, it’s movement, music, time alone, or getting outdoors. For others, it’s finally talking about what they’ve been carrying.

However you escape stress today, make sure it’s actually helping you heal.

Starting therapy for the first time can feel unfamiliar, especially if you’ve never talked to anyone about your mental health before. The first session is usually about understanding what’s going on in your life right now, what you want support with, and how therapy works. You won't fix everything in one hour, but you'll be taking a practical first step toward feeling better.

Many men grow up hearing that therapy is only for serious problems, that asking for help means you’ve failed, or that you should just "handle it on your own." You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Just like physical training builds strength, therapy builds resilience, clarity, and emotional flexibility.

It’s National Hugging Day!
Connection matters, especially for men, who are often encouraged to carry stress and emotion on their own. A simple hug, a check-in, or a moment of support can go a long way toward better mental health. Today, take a moment to remind someone, or yourself, that they don’t have to do it all alone.

Growth doesn't happen alone. This National Mentoring Month, take a moment to reflect on a man in your life you helped shape you into the person you are today. It could be a coach who listened, a teacher who believed, or a friend who was there when you needed them most. Tag them, thank them, or share what their presence meant to you and consider being that mentor for someone else.
