Another newbie alert!🚨

Please help us with welcoming Kaylene to HOPE! ☀️

Kaylene works out of our Los Angeles (Sherman Oaks) office and via telehealth.

Hi! I’m Kaylene (she/they) and I’m an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT). I’m a second-generation Korean American, born and raised in Los Angeles and I work with teens and adults to navigate stress, anxiety, and relationships, especially in a cultural context.

I love working with...

those who are thoughtful and motivated but feeling stuck in cycles of anxiety, stress, worry, or disconnection. Maybe you’ve been running on empty, constantly pushing yourself, juggling expectations, or wondering if the life you’ve built still fits who you are. It’s easy to lose sight of what you need when you’ve spent so long focusing on everyone else. Therapy is a space to slow down, get curious, and come back to what feels more like you. Many of my clients are navigating the complexities of being Asian American and trying to reconcile different cultural values while also building lives that feel authentic and balanced. Together, we’ll look at how your past relationships and cultural experiences shape who you are today, while finding new ways to move forward with clarity and self-compassion.

Some of my favorite approaches include...

Person-Centered/Rogerian Therapy
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
Solutions Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)
Motivational Interviewing (MI)

How I help...

I help clients make sense of their emotions, build insight, and get clarity on what matters most to them. We’ll explore who you are, what you want, and how to live in a way that feels more aligned with your values. Along the way, I offer a mix of validation, reflection, and practical tools when they’re needed.

I believe
.. healing happens in connection, and growth can be both meaningful and even a little lighthearted at times. We can tackle serious issues while also leaving room for humor and humanity.

What it's like in session with me

Therapy with me is collaborative, warm, and grounded in cultural understanding. It's not a one-size-fits-all situation and we'll work together to find what works best for you. I'll always be checking in to see what works, what doesn't, and we'll go at your pace.

Ashleigh works out of our NEW Rancho Bernardo office and via telehealth!

Hello, I’m Ashleigh (she/hers) and I am an LCSW. I am biracial (Filipina/White) and I was born and raised in San Diego County. I love hiking, doing yoga, reading, and going on adventures with my toddler!

I love working with...

I enjoy supporting individuals who feel challenged with anxiety, depressive symptoms, trauma, self-esteem, and difficult life transitions. I have experience working with youth, adults, parents, military, and first generation.

Some of my favorite approaches include...

To honor the many parts of a client, I use a blend of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectal Behavior Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), mindfulness, and somatic experiencing. I also bring a therapeutic lens that acknowledges how clients’ culture, background, and intergenerational dynamics play a role in how they engage with the world and how the many systems that they are a part of impact their well-being and nervous system.

How I help...

I feel deep gratitude in sharing space with clients to offer connection, techniques, and practices that cultivate healing, authenticity, and growth. I am passionate about creating a warm and accepting therapeutic space where clients can feel like their most genuine selves in order to work through conflict, challenges, and heaviness that they may be experiencing in life.

I believe...
..that we are intuitive and adaptable beings and sometimes we need to lean onto others to remind ourselves of our strengths, skills, and spark.

What it’s like in session with me…

I strive to create slow and intentional spaces that honor clients’ strengths and capabilities, while also providing creative techniques that bring clients in touch with their mind, body, relationships, and community.

One more (for now 😄) awesome new therapist! Welcome, Neqina Rodriguez! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 She is in our Clairemont office ✨✨

Hello, I’m Neqina (nuh-keen-a) Rodriguez and I am an Associate Clinical Social Worker (ACSW). I was born and raised in Columbus, OH and am a two-time graduate from The Ohio State University. I moved to San Diego a few years ago as a military spouse. I have been in the mental health field since 2018, starting my career providing mental health services to youth and families in the community then transitioned to school-based therapy. I enjoy weightlifting, watching sports (mostly football), going on walks, taking my dog on adventures, going to the movies, concerts and whale watching.

I love working with... ‍

Children, teens and young adults who are experiencing a variety of concerns such as depression, anxiety, behavioral issues, trauma, self-esteem, family dynamics and other related stressors. I also have a deep passion for working with the Black community, with an understanding of how important it is to find a therapist that can relate to you regarding race-related topics.

Some of my favorite approaches include...

At the core of my approach is to be trauma-informed and client-centered. While I may use specific modalities, I also strive to be creative and focus on what the client is looking for or needing. Some modalities I use include: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Narrative Therapy. By also integrating culturally responsive therapeutic modalities, I help clients reconnect with their strength, process historical and personal pain, and break cycles of generational trauma.

How I help...

Believing the client is the one in the driver seat and knows themselves best. I believe that the client already possesses so many strengths within themselves. My role is to assist the client with finding those strengths within them to better understand themselves and add to their toolbox of ways to function through life in a more helpful way. That can look like talk therapy, practicing coping skills in session, worksheets or other creative activities (especially for children!)

I believe...
..That everyone deserves a space to be able to be vulnerable, heard, seen and understood. The impact of having a space like that and the ability to feel safe, has such a helpful impact on us as humans. I also believe that healing isn't linear, it looks different for everyone.

What it's like in session with me

I bring an easy-going, relaxed, grounded, collaborative and humorous approach to the therapeutic space. I honor the pace of the client and meet them where they are at. My main goal is always to start off with building rapport and trust, as I believe that is the foundation of the therapeutic relationship. My overall approach is to celebrate your resilience while honoring your pain. I hope to create that safer space where you can feel like yourself and have a sense of belonging.

We have another amazing therapist to add to our team! Welcome, Mariana Brunnett-Lazarte 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

‼️She’s bilingual (English/Spanish) and sees clients via telehealth‼️

I love working with...

I love working with adults experiencing anxiety manifesting in constant worry, racing thoughts, critical self-talk, tension, and self-doubt. I’m also passionate about supporting adults in healing from past histories of trauma (abuse, neglect, loss, religious trauma, systemic oppression, and any other adverse experience), which continues to impact their current relationships and perceptions of themselves.

Some of my favorite approaches include...

Some of my favorite approaches include Narrative Therapy, EMDR, and IFS.

How I help...

I help clients reach their goals through thoughtful questions that highlight their strengths and values, as well as through understanding, befriending, and understanding their nervous system.

I believe...

I believe that excellent therapy includes considering the societal systems we are under, as well as centering mind-body connection (integrating talk therapy with somatic practices).

What it’s like in session with me…

Working with me, you can expect collaborative and relatable conversations, that meet you where you are at while encouraging growth and healing.

We have a new telehealth therapist! Welcome to the team, Piyola Derbarseghian! 😃☀️

Hello, I’m Piyola Derbarseghian (She/her/hers) and I am a AMFT. I’m passionate about supporting individuals who are navigating the complexities of adulthood, balancing work, love, and family responsibilities—while trying to stay connected to who they truly are. My goal is to create a warm, supportive space where you can slow down, reflect, and make sense of the experiences

I love working with...

I love working with young adults navigating anxiety, daily stress, and interpersonal challenges within their relationships. I also specialize in supporting couples who want to deepen connection, rebuild trust, and create a more harmonious, fulfilling partnership. In addition, I am passionate about helping clients explore identity conflicts, intergenerational trauma, and self-esteem concerns—especially those with multicultural or immigrant backgrounds who may feel caught between cultural expectations and personal authenticity.

Some of my favorite approaches include...

My work is grounded in psychodynamic therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), allowing us to explore how early experiences and past relationships shape your present. Hi, all! 📣‼️We have another new San Diego therapist! Welcome, Rachel Kirchhofer! 😃☀️

Hello! I’m Rachel (She/Her) and I am an Associate Clinical Social Worker. I’m a firm believer that nature can heal, but also having someone to talk and process things with can be just as important. Whether it be grief, life change, anxiety, depression, burn out or pondering purpose, I’d love to go on the journey with you.

I love working with...
..people who are seeking to get in touch, or back in touch, with themselves...people I love working with: pet lovers, artists, people who ponder, and outdoor enthusiasts.

Some of my favorite approaches include...

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) (mixed with some mindfulness), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT),
Internal Family Systems (IFS), finding creative or active outlets

‍How I help...

Whether you have a specific goal or are just thinking what change there could be, I am available to be a brainstormer and advocate. I’m wanting to walk the journey with you to find what is best suited for you and your life.

I believe...
..Everybody has the ability to create a life they’re proud of.

What it’s like in session with me:

Generally I like to have a short term and long term aspect of therapy sessions: how the week was and diving into the long term goals and processing. I often find that the long term and short term aspects are linked and it lets us explore together.

Throughout our time together we work together to foster emotional awareness, mindfulness and coping/grounding skills, identifying strengths (because we can be our own worst critic) finding outlets as well as fostering the knowledge of capability.

Another HOPEr from our San Diego office, Tova Brown! 😃☀️

Hello, I’m Tova Brown (she/her), an AMFT and Certified Trauma Professional. I graduated from the California School of Professional Psychology in 2022 and practice from a trauma-informed, attachment-focused lens. Before becoming an AMFT, I spent 12 years working as a physical therapist in intensive care units, supporting people recovering from significant physical, neurological, and cardiac traumas. While I no longer practice physical therapy, that experience deeply informs my work today—I have a strong appreciation for the connection between mind and body and how each impacts the other. On a more personal note, I’ve lived all over the U.S. and recently returned to San Diego after living in Australia. I love to laugh, stay active, and travel to experience new cultures and perspectives. Depending on the day, you might find me curled up with a good book, out trying an extreme sport, or spending time with my family and the close relationships that mean the most to me.

I love working with...

I love working with people from all walks of life who are navigating the impact of trauma at any stage of their journey. This includes individuals and families exploring family of origin patterns and breaking cycles of intergenerational trauma, parents who want to practice positive parenting, and couples in both monogamous and consensual non-monogamous relationships. I also support transitional-age youth, LGBTQIA+ clients, and anyone processing complex trauma, relationship challenges, or life transitions. Additionally, I work with those managing mood or behavioral concerns, helping each person or family find healing, resilience, and growth in a way that feels meaningful and true to who they are.

I am passionate about working with individuals and children to explore their inner strengths, helping them overcome the struggles they face, and expanding their support system to assist them on their journey towards well-being.

Some of my favorite approaches include...

My perspective is centered on collaboration and leveraging individual strengths, particularly when it comes to defining success and setting goals. Another HOPEr! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Please help me with welcoming Farah Dehmoubed, one of our San Diego therapists! ☀️

Welcome! I’m glad you’re here.

As an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, I believe healing begins with connection. My path into this work has been shaped by a lifelong curiosity about the ways our minds and bodies hold stories. Before becoming a marriage and family, I have spent many years practicing as an osteopathic manual therapist, yoga therapist, and a fitness coach helping people reconnect with their bodies and discover resilience from within. Those experiences continue to guide me today as I support clients in integrating mind and body in their journey of growth.

In therapy, I take a client-centered approach, where your needs, values, and goals set the guide for therapy. I draw from Narrative Therapy, CBT, DBT, SFBT, ACT, and psychosomatic theories, blending these modalities in a way that fits each individual. My role is not just to offer tools, but to walk alongside you, helping you uncover new perspectives, strengthen your voice, and move toward the changes you want to see in your life.

I work with adults and families across diverse backgrounds, and I am fluent in Farsi and Spanish. Creating a safe, inclusive space where you feel seen and heard is at the heart of my practice.

I am here to advocate for you, honor your story, and support you in building clarity, self-compassion, and connection.

Our team is growing! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Please help me with welcoming Edith Alvarez, one of our San Diego therapists! ☀️

Hi, I’m Edith (she/her), an AMFT and APCC. I work with individuals, couples, and families to navigate stress, relationships, and life transitions. When I’m not in session, you can usually find me spending time with family and my dogs, at the gym, or enjoying stand-up comedy. I feel very fortunate to do this work and walk alongside people as they grow.

I love working with...

My focus is on supporting people through different stages of life and challenges. I work with individuals facing addiction, adolescents who need a safe space to be heard, couples wanting to reconnect, and families learning how to navigate tough moments together. I aim to create a space that feels supportive, compassionate, and centered on your unique needs.

Some of my favorite approaches include...

My clinical work is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Narrative Therapy. I value CBT for its structured and practical tools, DBT for its emphasis on emotion regulation and mindfulness, and Narrative Therapy for the way it empowers clients to re-author their stories and separate themselves from problems.

Cultural Aspects & Intersectionality
I approach therapy with cultural humility and an awareness of intersectionality. I recognize that every client’s identity is shaped by multiple cultural, social, and personal factors, and I make space to honor those experiences in the room. I see culture not as a barrier, but as a resource for resilience and meaning.

View of the Client / Therapist Relationship
I believe the client-therapist relationship is a partnership. I aim to create a safe, non-judgmental, and collaborative environment where clients feel both supported and empowered. Trust and authenticity are at the core of this relationship, and I work to meet clients where they are rather than imposing a one-size-fits-all approach.
