April is Alcohol Awareness Month — Let’s Talk About Teen Choices and Risks

At the Center for Progressive Wellness, we recognize April as Alcohol Awareness Month — a critical time to shine a light on the impact of underage drinking. Research shows that alcohol consumption among teens significantly increases the likelihood of engaging in high-risk behaviors, including unsafe s*x, reckless driving, violence, and experimenting with other substances.

Alcohol affects brain development in adolescents and impairs judgment, making it harder for teens to assess danger or understand long-term consequences. As a result, teens who drink are more likely to face academic issues, legal trouble, and mental health challenges.

Let’s use this month to open honest conversations, spread awareness, and empower our youth with the tools they need to make informed, healthy choices. Together, we can prevent risky behavior and build a safer, stronger future.
