Dear Friends,

We are all deeply saddened by the recent tragic deaths and abuses that have occurred in the country that we all call home. We also acknowledge that the manifestation of institutionalized racism within our country has divided us and stained our history for centuries. We also acknowledge the long history of racism within the medical field that has led to differences in health care access, certain diseases, and experiences with medical providers.

We mourn for everyone that has been directly or indirectly impacted by discrimination of any form. OCC firmly stands against all forms of racism, inequality, and discrimination. Medical research shows that racism adversely affects children and their families’ health. Reference: “The Impact of Racism on Child and Adolescent Health” >> https://bit.ly/2V3B1PG

As we identify our own intrinsic biases, we encourage all of us to learn and grow from the discussions being held around the nation. To our Black patients, colleagues, and friends, we are listening and we strongly support you.

In this moment, it is the time to actively advocate for change by working together to dismantle structural racism, improve the quality of life and health of all our patients. Within our organization, we will continue with compassion and empathy as we strive towards education, understanding, self-reflection, and acceptance for all. Self education will challenge world views on these complex issues which is sorely needed at this time. We urge everyone to stand together to face the truth of racism in this country, embracing diversity and inclusion to help those in need achieve their life’s potential.

Sincerely,
R. Mitchell Hiserote, D.O.
OCC President and Interim Medical Director

Congratulations to the students who successfully completed Philippe Druelle, DO (F-Qc)'s January course at our center, entitled "Fluid Flow and the Healing Process: An Approach Based on the Quantum Reality in the Dynamic and Functions of Living Matter." These students represent the pipeline of next generation OMM practitioners, who we're honored to support and join with on their journeys.

As shared by The Promise OPC:

In 2020, you can learn about the first rule of osteopathy: "The Rule of the Artery is Supreme" in San Diego (thanks A.T. Still). OPC is the proud sponsor for The Rule of the Artery courses in 2020 -- register here:

We are quite literally having our brains washed every night. Neuroscientists have now produced a fascinating video that shows this nocturnal pulsing process in action.

New Rochester research may help explain the connection between high blood pressure and Alzheimer's, and it's all to do with how the brain pumps away waste.

Congratulations to the 2019 class successfully completing our 40-Hour Basics course this past weekend at OCSD! By incorporating OMT and cranial into their practice, these students represent the pipeline of next generation OMM practitioners and we're honored to be along on their journeys.

From our students and referring professors...
"The most exciting five days in the course of my medical school journey so far!"
"I am so amazed by what we learned -- cranial bones move and I can feel them!!! A whole new world has opened up for me."
"I've had two students receive scholarships to cranial courses this summer... and both came back ON fire about OMT, and cranial in particular. I think it is a really good investment in our future. These students want to be sure to incorporate cranial in their future practices. This is really encouraging."

Online registration is NOW OPEN for next year's Basic Course, July 15-19, 2020 >>> http://bit.ly/2Y7VTJh
