Did you know that turmeric is often suggested as a home remedy for all sorts of ailments? It’s believed to have analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties; therefore, it may also help reduce wisdom teeth pain. 🧡

Try rubbing loose turmeric on the sore gums. A paste could also be made by mixing baking powder, toothpaste, and turmeric. Rub the paste around the wisdom teeth and let sit for several minutes before rinsing out.

Here's a general timeline of what will happen when your teen comes to Torrey Pines OMS for a wisdom tooth consultation. Wisdom teeth are the last teeth to develop and erupt into the mouth, usually between the ages of 17 and 25. Even if your teen's wisdom teeth aren't painful, you should still come see us around this age to make sure they don't need to be removed!

Before dental implant surgery, imaging tests help our team at Torrey Pines OMS determine if a bone graft is needed. These tests provide detailed, high-resolution images that reveal the bone’s density, volume, and structure at the planned implant site.

If the images show that there isn’t enough healthy bone to securely anchor an implant, we can identify the specific areas where bone is lacking and plan a bone graft accordingly. Imaging also helps map out vital structures like nerves and sinuses, ensuring that any grafting or implant placement avoids these areas for your safety.
