Congratulations Imperial Beach Community Clinic for electing their new Chief Medical Officer Dr. Veronica Palomino!

Please help us welcome our current Chief Medical Officer.
Dr. Veronica Palomino is a board-certified physician in both Family and Preventive Medicine, serving as Chief Medical Officer at Imperial Beach Community Clinic. With over a decade of experience in community health, medical education, and clinical leadership, she is dedicated to advancing equitable, high-quality care for underserved populations.

Dr. Palomino earned her MD from UT Southwestern Medical Center and her MPH in Epidemiology from San Diego State University. She completed dual residencies in Family Medicine and Preventive Medicine, followed by a fellowship in Underserved Medicine at UC San Diego. Her career spans roles as a medical school and residency faculty member, health center director, and public health researcher.

Building resilient communities starts with preparedness! Our Emergency Preparedness team joined partners from CHCs, hospitals, County Public Health, and emergency management agencies for the Community Healthcare Emergency Preparedness Academy (CHEPA) Emergency Communications Symposium on Nov. 4–5.

From virtual sessions on alert systems and mass communication to hands-on workshops simulating complete infrastructure loss, this event reinforced the critical need for redundant, reliable emergency communication plans.

We're pleased to announce that Sparkle Barnes has been appointed CEO and President of HCP's Family of Companies!

Sparkle has been part of Family of Companies leadership since 2010, including becoming President of CNECT in 2021, and being named Interim President and CEO of HCP in April.

Sparkle follows Henry Tuttle, who is retiring after 11 years of transformative leadership.
