Teacher Spot Light:
With over 20 years of sports competition, Matthew is no stranger to the capabilities of the human body and mind. 11 years of experience as a personal trainer and 6 years as a coach to amateur and professional athletes, he is no stranger to helping people maximize their abilities.
Yoga first came into the picture in April, 2013 when, seeking solitude and a change in lifestyle, Matt decided to try the practice. Completely self-taught through videos and extensive reading, he honed a self-practice for 2 years. Through this practice he found healing, better focus and increased athletic performance. On top of that the practice has also brought a sense of community, calm, and patience.
Having taken his first 200hr YTT in April, 2016 and a second one in March, 2018, Matt now weaves his athletic experience and yoga practice together with classes that challenges the body but encourages a calm and steady flow of the mind. He continues to do work in personal training, has been a high school wrestling coach for 4 years, and has been teaching yoga for over 4 years, hoping to influence athletes, share the yoga practice, and give back what has been given to him.
Fun fact! When Matt’s not teaching yoga and coaching athletes, he is building custom travel vans or traveling the country with his partner, living the vanlife.
