September was National Preparedness Month, and our teams joined in with fun and informative activities to raise awareness about emergency readiness!

Staff explored our information board, completed preparedness puzzles, and picked up helpful tips for staying safe during disasters.

The San Dimas Community Hospital Skills Fair took place from September 15-18. This fall-themed event provided a valuable opportunity for all staff to refresh and enhance essential skills, including patient experience, fire safety, performance improvement, infection control, and emergency management. Our nursing staff also took part in skills sessions focused on critical areas like blood transfusions, crash carts, and safe patient handling. Thank you to all our leaders and frontline staff for their dedication in making this event a success. Together, we continue to promote the highest standards of care for our community.

Earlier today, smoke was detected at San Dimas Community Hospital. Thanks to the swift response of the San Dimas Fire Department and the San Dimas Community Hospital employees, the situation was quickly managed. No injuries occurred, and patient care was not impacted.

We are grateful for the professionalism and teamwork that ensured the safety of our patients, visitors, and staff. Our hospital remains open and ready to serve the community.

It was a great opportunity for our day and night shift teams to come together and enjoy some delicious food cooked by our dedicated managers and leaders. This year, San Dimas Community Hospital had the privilege of hosting the Region 9 Decontamination Drill, uniting eight hospitals from Los Angeles County. This event provided an invaluable opportunity for our teams to enhance their decontamination knowledge and procedures, ensuring we are well-prepared to safeguard both staff and patients in the event of an emergency involving hazardous substances. A special thank you to Connie Rangel, our Emergency Preparedness Manager, for her exceptional leadership in organizing this important event, and to her HERT team for fostering collaboration and setting a positive tone for the day. Together, we remain committed to the safety and well-being of our community.

This past Hospital Week was a wonderful celebration of our staff that go above and beyond for our patients daily. On Monday, we kicked off the week with a coffee cart to fuel our mornings. Tuesday brought tasty tacos along with fun activities like trivia and a pie-eating contest, adding a touch of excitement to the day. On Wednesday, everyone enjoyed delicious mini pancakes, followed by a refreshing fruit bar on Thursday. We wrapped up the week with nachos. Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to making this week memorable. Your dedication is truly appreciated.
