It’s my second week back at work. I took a much needed break from work and social media over the holidays to focus on my family and health. It’s a known fact meditation has many benefits for improving mental health conditions likes anxiety and depression, increases attention, compassion, empathy, self awareness, and improves sleep.

With increasing COVID numbers, holiday stress, dealing with changes of social distancing and not being with family, I will admit it’s been a tough these last months. I am going to take on the challenge of meditating daily till the next year to start with a positive habit.

Would you like to join me? It can start with 5 minutes a day and slowly increasing the time.

Es un hecho conocido que la meditación tiene muchos beneficios para mejorar las condiciones de salud mental como la ansiedad y la depresión, aumenta la atención, la compasión, la empatía, la autoconciencia y mejora el sueño.

Con el aumento de los números de COVID, el estrés de la navidad, aceptar los cambios de distanciamiento social y no estar con la familia, admito que han sido difíciles estos últimos meses. Voy a tomar el reto de meditar diariamente hasta el próximo año para comenzar con un hábito positivo.

Hello, it’s been a while so thought I would introduce myself to new members! I’m Cecilia Gonzalez, LMFT in the San Fernando Valley. I work with children and adults helping treat symptoms related to trauma, depression, anxiety, behavioral problems with kids, or life transitions. I love working with the Latinx community and am fluent in Spanish. I’m extremely grateful to have my private practice and it’s a privilege to work alongside individuals, earn their trust, and empower them towards meeting their goals. Who uses To Do list to stay organized? I know I do! It may be easy to forget your needs on your list. It’s important to plan self care or activities that bring you joy. Even if you are a parent, you have to be healthy to be able to take care of others. You aren’t selfish when you showing yourself love. ❤️

National Hispanic heritage month...Sept 15-Oct 15. However you choose to identify, Latinx, Hispanic, Latino, Chicano, take time to celebrate your culture. I am proud of being Latina and try to continue practicing my Mexican traditions every day. I love the food, music, love, and pride Latinx community has. It is my identity and I also love working with my Latinx community.

Fun fact- I use to dance folkorico in middle school and with UCLA folkorico where I met awesome friends. I absolutely miss performing and get so excited seeing folkorico shows. 😍

Next time your child is upset, try to think about the reason behind his or her behavior. Sometimes all kids need is love. By remaining calm, connecting, and helping your child calm down, you are teaching your child emotion regulation.

“Cuando su niño no se puede calmar, intente conectar con él en vez de castigarlos.” A veces los niños necesitan amor y atención. Al permanecer calmada, conectar, y ayudarlo a calmarse, está enseñadole a su hijo estrategias para controlar sus emociones.
