This continuation of our two-part feature honoring Chris Van Gorder, the 2026 recipient of Partners in Care Foundation’s Vision & Excellence in Healthcare Leadership Award, turns to the defining chapter of his leadership.

When Van Gorder stepped into the role of interim CEO at Scripps Health, the organization was operating with just 55 days cash on hand. Morale was low, trust was fractured, and the challenge was not simply financial. It was cultural.

Rather than retreat in the face of uncertainty, he chose transparency.

We invite you to read Part 2 of our Honoree interview to learn more:

As President and CEO of Scripps Health for the past 25 years, Chris Van Gorder has now successfully led the organization through a quarter of its 100-year history.

At Partners in Care Foundation, our social workers are at the heart of the care we provide.

Through our Long-Term Supports and Services (LTSS) programs and Medi-Cal Waivers, they support high-need communities across Los Angeles and surrounding areas — helping our participants navigate healthcare, access critical resources, and maintain independence at home.

Their compassionate care makes a lasting difference every day. We’re proud to celebrate our incredible social workers this month!
